The night before...

Shely, 19 February, 2014 at 08:28 Posted on Planning 0 40

What's everyone doing the night before the big day...?

We are going to stay at our hotel/venue with our closest family to set some things up ready and then have a nice family meal and a few drinks. I shall limit myself to one large glass of de-nerving wine though lol. H2B and I want to spend that night together but we will get ready on the day in separate rooms x

We gathered with various family and friends in our accommodation hotel (not where we got married). Then the boys went for curry/pints and the girls went for pasta/wine and got trollied We didn't share a room that night but we were still up together with a few mates past midnight, so nothing to do with not wanting to see each other before the ceremony!

H2b is driving me and the kids to my mums where we will stay the night and he will come home to spend the night with his BM and his sons. I'm hoping for a nice relaxing evening with rubbish on the TV, a glass of wine or two and a few giggles about nothing in particular. In reality, I'll probably be tearing my hair out about things that haven't been done to absolute perfection lol

We'll be on holiday so we're staying together and getting ready together. I can't wait to be honest.

We are staying at self catering cottages at the venue. The plan is to have a big, relaxed meal with family, bridesmaids, best men etc and generally chill out and have a lovely time.

The boys are then staying at a pub nearby so will no doubt be up later drinking. I'm staying at the cottage with my MOH. I'm really hoping i manage to get some sleep.

I'm really, really looking forward to it. By that time everything should be done so it will be a chance to relax and everyone get to know each other.

We were going to go for a curry but im not very spice tolerant so it was decided a safer bet would be bog standard bar menu haha!

OH and his family are going for a meal together (to which i was expressly not invited) so I think my family and I will have a take away at my mother's and drink too much wine!

Haha yeah, not so shocking if you know the family! I'm still "an outsider". I think, knowing them as I do, I take that as a compliment!

I'm reeeeally excited about the night before. We have hired the terrace of a bar (on the side of a cliff overlooking the sea!) and have a salsa instructor coming for an hour. We're not in to enforced fun, we won't be making people dance against their will, but we know loads of our friends/family will be up for the giggle. We are still undecided about staying together ... feels quite romantic saying Adios at the end of the night, but in reality I know I'll not settle on my own!

I am staying at the venue with my family and h2b is staying at home.

I didn't mind spending the night with h2b but he insisted he wanted to keep tradition and not see me the night before!

We're staying on site at the venue on self catering cottages. I'm in one with my two bridesmaids and then H2B will be staying in the large one with his family. Then on wedding night he will join me in my cottage and bridesmaids have their own B&B rooms sorted. We're just going to have a meal me and bridesmaids and then chill watching girls films or crap tv in the cottage!

Both will be at home chilling out, we are spending the night together and we will be seeing each other in the morning cos he has to take me to the hairdressers and pick me up on the day. He will be out the way before I get dressed though as he doesn't want to see the dress.

We're going to be totally separate! My family and bridesmaids are staying in self catering cottages at the venue as they all live about a hours drive away so OH is dropping me off with all the wedding things then going home to spend the night with his dad and best men. I'm staying in the cottage with my family, my granddad is doing a bbq apparently! I'l b drinking a de-nerving glass of wine too!

In principle I'll be drinking prosecco, having my nails done with my bridesmaids then getting an early night at my mums house. In practice this probably will involve crying and shouting! ☹️ H2B I think is staying at our wedding night hotel with his best man, but he's not said either way so I've given up asking. I don't subscribe to having to spend the night apart. My friends didn't and they weren't struck down in flames, and have a happy marriage.

Depends what it means to you and what peoples reasons are for wanting to stay apart - if it's superstition/bad luck, I don't really follow that either (each to their own!) but for me it feels exciting to say goodbye the night before, waking up in the morning wondering how they are getting on, waiting all day to see your OH and then seeing one another at the aisle ... siiiigh

Oooo it's all so excting reading about everyone's plans! I'm staying at the wedding venue the night before, my 3 bridemaids are staying, my mum and dad, and then quite a few guests too! Me and the girls will be using the amazing spa facilities at the hotel in the afternoon, relaxinf in the hot tub outside with a glass of bubbly, and a couple of relaxing massages etc, then we will have a bite to eat in the restaurant in the evening. Will prob catch up with a few guests, but nothing major, just going to relax!

OH is staying at a local hotel with his best men, and they'll probably go out for a bite to eat somewhere. Other half's family are staying at my hotel, but think they will go and have dinner with him.

I can't wait for this all to begin! 156 days to go! x

We are getting married on a Friday, so from the Monday he is going to stay with his parents so we will not see each other for 4 days! Not for any reason other than, I want him to miss me! Smiley laugh

Saying that I'm sure closer to the time I may change my mind, as it will be the longest we've been apart since the early stages of our relationship.

I will be staying at the venue the night before with one of my BM's and he will move back in the house to get ready there with his BM & the ushers.

I'm really excited about it all and can't wait, but again I'm sure it'll come to the Sunday night and I'll not want him to go so make him stay until the Thursday Smiley laugh hee hee

I will be staying at my moms with MOH and one other BM (the other 3 BMs who are OH sisters will join us in the morning) and he is staying at his parents the other side of the village.

I will be going to one of our local pubs at the top of the hill and he will be in the other pub at the bottom of the hill. I love the idea of having a boy and girl pub!!

I have advised that for the only time in his life I will be requesting he does not get too drunk Smiley winking

In reality I will probably be crying and stressing about all the things I have left to do/forgotten!!x

OH and I are staying at the venue the night before along with another 14 or so guests and so we'll all have a big meal and catch up together. We've not decided yet whether or not we'll spend share a room the night before. He quite likes the tradition, I like the idea of not seeing him to build up the excitement, but then I know that I'll sleep loads better if he's in bed next to me.

Bm's and I are staying in a hotel about a minute away from my parents. Would just stop at parents house except it's not a house, it's a tiny little cottage with one bathroom. One bathroom and 7 people trying to get ready for a midday wedding...ain't gonna happen!!

Will shower & have hair & makeup done at hotel and then go to the rents to get dressed and drink champers about 10:30am.

OH is staying at home as far as I know.
