The parts of wedding planning that have made you feel good.

xxbeckyxx999, 26 March, 2015 at 16:10 Posted on Planning 0 21

There seems to have been so many negative threads on here lately that I thought maybe we should change it up a little bit. Everyone knows that wedding planning is stressful (I never knew how much until now!) so lets get posting on the positives, things that people have done to make you smile, just anything Smiley smile

Mine would have to be the fact that my H2B has been so supportive through certain parts. He keeps saying he can't wait to marry me and nothing else matters, not the dress, cake, suits or anything.

Feel free to add yours.

I'm pretty early on in my planning, but easily my favourite part has to be when he asked me to marry him! Pretty sure the only thing that will top that is when we've both said I do and signed the register!

(Not to say that free cake samples are not totally appreciated!)

Lovely idea for a post - I've got lots as I'm only 8 weeks off the big day. Probably my top two are my weekly planning meetings with my MOH on a Friday night over a bottle of wine (I'm really going to miss those!) and secondly, watching my oldest friend 'shrink' over the past year - she's lost nearly 5 stone inspired by the wedding.

I have really enjoyed planning the wedding and think I will be quite sad when it's over - sadly!!

I've loved it all - especially my darling daughter being so amazing and my OH for also loving it all and being just as giddy as me. The couple of hiccups have been just that - hiccups and I haven't lost sleep over the at all. But the best bit for me was telling my lovely mum. The sheer joy on her face will stay with me for ever. She died only 8 or so weeks later but I have those most lovely memories of her being so happy for us. And then seeing my dad finally coming out of his darkness and buying trendy suits and shirts for the wedding.

Yes weddings can bring out the worst in some people, but they are a minority and weddings bring so much happiness to the vast majority of people and I love to see that Smiley smile

My favourite bit has been how excited my OH is! He has organised quite a lot of the day and booked the honeymoon etc. He also decided we should get something engraved in the other persons ring, as a surpris for the big day, and I love that! Only four days until i get to see what he put Smiley smile

i also loved picking the music out together.

we are having a tiny wedding so haven't had many of the stresses lots of people have, but I still have my moments! Lovely idea for a thread!

    Great idea for a thread!

I love planning! As we scrapped our original concept I've had to do it twice!

I'm not sure I can isolate what I like ... the searching, the inspirations, the anticipation ... I'll give t some more thought and try and be a bit more coherent.

The OH said everything and knowing our day will be perfect.

For me it has to be how close me and my OH have got through it all. We are both busy people and don't see a lot of each other but when we sit down to plan, it is wonderful. Oh and seeing my OH all dressed up in his suit

The moments of asking our family and friends to have a part in our wedding. I have 2 cousins, one will be an usher and his sister will be doing a personal reading for us at church. we also had a fab day together shopping when she treated me to my wedding shoes! I asked my Godmother last week to do the bible reading at our ceremony, and hearing how honoured she was to be asked was such a nice feeling!

I am the first of the 'kids' in my family to marry, and seeing how excited all of my family are is amazing!

I have really enjoyed seeing other people's ideas and marvelling at all the creativity. Our friends and families have reacted well and are all excited for us so it will be really good to share our special day with people from different stages of our lives, I can't think of a previous occasion in which so many family and friends have been gathered in the same place. I met a friend of a friend at a party, and she is like me, loves weddings, any wedding. She said weddings were special because it feels like everybody is rooting for the bride and groom, and I agree.?

Just how wonderful and supportive and excited my 2 BM's have been so far. It makes me feel extremely lucky having such great friends as well as a wonderful OH. My mum and dad are also so excited and that's so lovely to see.

I have been one of the recent negative posts!! But thats more a work issue i think...anyhoo, the whole lot has felt good really! I love sorting stuff out, putting ideas together, getting to be just a tiny bit creative. Its been lovely planning it with OH, and getting excited together about random stuff like cake flavours, and table centres. My mom n dad have been amazing and really interested (sometimes too interested lol) the whole way through. Although I was moaning about not ahving many friends/having a different relationship with the people I work with than I thought, actually thats been nice to gain some perspective and really appreciate those that are excited and happy for us. Also after my fitting/hair/make up trials yesterday, that just made me feel brilliant, so what if I have a few spots or bizzarely slightly corned beefy backs of arms, I loved looking and feeling so pretty! And just stuff like OH randomly saying about how he thought of this or that, like he was thinking about how he was going to be wearing a wedding ring and that it made him all excited, its lovely!

This is brilliant. Weddings can be stressful at time so it's nice to focus on the good things!

I love how excited my 11 yr old niece is about the wedding and being a bridesmaid. I love spending time researching all the different little things! It's also great seeing how excited my h2b is getting about it all!

We have kept a lot of info close to our chests so we haven't had much drama until now. I loved dress shopping. My family were fab and it was such an amazing experience. I love getting photos from my wedding planner and I have loved how easy it has been to plan so far.

We've been engaged for so long that the official booking of the registrar (the very first thing we did as soon as we decided to get on with the wedding planning!) has been the best bit of planning so far. It made it feel real. Being with my partner is great, but knowing that soon we will be married is an amazing feeling! x

Going to see the vicar! We have been together for about 10 years, been engaged for 4 year and have 3 children, finaly starting to plan our wedding was exciting and going to see the vicar was the 1st thing.

Its also fab seeing our daughters (7 and 3) getting excited and asking questions about the day, will it be a late night? Can i choose the first dance song? (No im not dancing to Jessie J or 1D).

3 things for me: planning and keeping secret the really personal touches to surprise H with on the day

Personalising our church service so that it really reflected us and was heaps of fun

and, arriving in the UK and finally being surrounded by people who were as excited as we were and all wanted to help out.

Telling H we were getting married was one of the scariest but also best days of the whole planning process. Best Valentine's Day ever!

I've loved it all, except for dress shopping!

My wife to be is ridiculously cute about it all. She's MUCH more understated and calmer than me, so whereas I'll leap out of bed and be bouncing around like I've snorted sugar, she's all "yes dear, this is very exciting" *eye roll* hahahahah ? but I know she's just as giddy!

Loved choosing our venue, loved having a tester meal at our reception restaurant, meeting our videographer for a three hour lunch, getting personalised m&m's made, all of it.

I think my favourite day of the planning was the day we took the afternoon off to go and give notice together, and then we went and chose our rings. That felt amazing. Going to taste our menu was good too! Oh, and dress shopping. I was terrified I would look awful in everything (I'm 5ft 2, top heavy, no waist or hips) but I pretty much loved them all!

6 months later and the planning memories have faded fast, but being married is amazing every day :-)

Theres a couple of things for me. The fact that whilst I DO most of the wedding planning, h2b is more than involved out of his own want. He is interested, has opinions, and that makes me feel amazing about the wedding WE are planning.

He often says he can't wait to marry me and that he is so excited for the day.

The day we went wedding ring shopping is up there with my fav ever days. We have had a few tiffs on our “wedding catch up” nights but in the main they are successful and positive. Putting together our invitations was good and both of us shoving them into the post box with excitement was fun. =)
