the right headdress

alibarry, 12 May, 2010 at 13:46 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi i am new to this even though it is 2nd time around for me. I am struggling to decide on what type of headress to wear with my dress. I have bought Sophia Tolli Anne dress and I have shortish hair. I am 45 so I am probably the oldest bride on here but i still want to look right and i dont want to look too young if you know what i mean! HELP!

Welcome! We have brides of all ages here - so don't worry!

Is your hair curly/straight? You say shortish, but does that mean too short to put up?

That's a gorgeous dress - really beautiful. I don't think you need anything too fancy, as you have the embellishments on the dress. Perhaps a vintage style hair brooch could work? Any pics of your hair, or someone who's hair looks like yours might help us to helps you....

What about a diamonte fascinator with a birdcage veil...a very classic look and easy to pull off!

    I had one ?

Your dress is stunning ❤️ and welcome to Hitched.

I make bespoke designs for hair accessories and jewellery so feel free to contact me if you want to chat about any ideas - ******@**************.**.**. My website is www.lynseysdesigns.co.uk so have a nosey and see if you like anything even as a starting point.

I'd go for either a simple and elegant band style like these perhaps this is one of my customers wearing it

or a side design using materials to match your dress . This could be with pearls and diamontes without any problem.

I have a couple of ideas that would compliment your dress really well but I haven't finished them yet but I can certainly email you pics.

    Any questions just ask.

Welcome to Hitched, You certainly are not the eldest on here, I beat you by 10 years, lol.

Lynsey from PurfectGems has just designed and made me a beautiful Tiara.

I had the same thoughts about not looking over the top as an older bride but in the end I have just gone with it and I think I have got the sophisicated look I want.

I like Tahdah's suggestion of a birdcage with a bit of bling. They are really beautiful and would go with the vintage style of your dress. Plus they are timeless and ageless!

Your dress is beautiful, very elegant. I like the idea of a birdcage veil.

You'll get some wonderful ideas/inspiration from the ladies on here. I was having some concerns about my headwear and everyone was really helpful x

Hello and welcome to Hitched. You could go for something simple like the double row headabnd at the bottom of this page https://www.3djewellery.co.uk/index_files/headbands_diamante_pearl.htm or a side comb https://www.3djewellery.co.uk/index_files/jewelled_hair_combs.htm. Although I did have some one with hair like yours who was adamant she wanted a comb until she tried this on

Thanks Tahdah! And I hope married life is treating you well too!

Anyway if you have a look at my site, on the Happy Clients page, not only will you see TahDah but you'll also see a bespoke comb made for a client called Mandi. (It's 3rd picture down, but 4th comment down). that was put on a comb, but you could easily have something like that on a band if you'd prefer. Or right at the bottom of the page you have the Shooting Star Alice Band, which is similar to the comb & is worn by a client called Vicki.

And if you'd want to stear away completely from crystal you could just have a fascinator made for you too. I'm just about to collect some lovely cream felt & satin to make a lovely fascinator which will be added to my site soon.

I hope this gives you some food for thought. Feel free to email me if you'd like anything designed specifically for you.

Ooh I do like the band 3D has posted.

Something like the Nouveau design (with white pearls) on a hair band would look lovely I think

Or Clematis, again this could be put on a band if you prefered instead of a comb

Lots of other design here http://www.louloubelle.co.uk

I'd be happy to discuss ideas with you if you'd like to drop me an email - lisa@louloubelle,co.uk - and I offer a free bespoke design service too.
