The things we do to look beutiful :-)

Mrs Poon, 16 April, 2011 at 17:32 Posted on Planning 0 26

So was just having a bath and got thinking since me and O/H booked date for our Big Day all the things I now do regularly and new things I am doing to ensure that when he see me for the 1st time (hopefully) he will be wowed by my beauty. So here’s my list below:-

Regular haircuts / Regular eyebrow waxing / Monthly manicures / Regular dentist visits and teeth being whitened next month / Back to fat club to get back to goal weight (lucky for me only 3lbs away now) / new 3-step facial skin daily routine / cream (most) days after shower.

So Hitchers my question to you is what do you now do or have introduced to your beauty routine to guarantee you look your best on your big day? ?

Haircuts every six weeks - I'm sure this is a money-making scam by hairdressers....I have spent a vast amount of money and pain getting my teeth straightened. Like you, next month is whitening month! Have started buying posh face stuff, just in case I really was missing out. Nothing scientifically dubious like retinoic acid stuff or owt, just decent facewash/serum/moisturiser/eye cream. I have stopped biting my nails (and the skin around them, although this is taking longer to heal). I will in no way have decent nails for the wedding but at least I'll have a decent base for falsies.

WSS! I also plan on picking up at the gym again on a programme after Christmas so I can tone up my back arms and butt a bit more and eat a bit healthier. More water less Wine will be my mantra

I haven't really introduced anything I don't think... oh wait, I lie! I've started using that Dr Scholl foot scrub and foot moisturiser to make sure my heels are nice. I don't know why, no-one will ever see them under my dress but I just want to have nice feet on my wedding day! I don't bother with regular eyebrow waxing, I figure I can just keep them under control myself but I've booked in for waxing the day before the wedding, and am having a hair&make-up lady on the day!

    Nothing!!!

That might change after i've had my baby though, when I want my pre-baby figure back. But that will only be more exercise etc.

I already exfoliate and moisturise regularly, so that's nothing new...

I'n not a manicure/pedicure type gal either, so won't be doing those.

Hmmm the only things I have been doing is taking more care to take all my make up off at night and cleanse properly and using body cream more after a shower but thats about it Smiley smile I've never been in to waxing, false nails etc so wont be doing any of those things now.

Quite a lot of stuff. I have been on a diet since Jan 3rd and have lost 17lb and have another 5lb to loose. I am a bit of a Liz Earle addict anyway but have been using the mask more. I have booked an appointment with the chiropodist as i have really sore hard skin and want my feet to be as nice as possible. I have also booked to have thread veins to be removed from my face.

Will be trying to start a waxing and facials routine from June and also try fake tan.

The biggest thing though is my teeth,i have been waiting six months for my assessment to see if the NHS will help pay for three veneers/caps,i think it is a few grands worth of work and if they say yes then it will cost £375,the assessment is on Monday so fingers crossed. I will get them whitened as well which is another £350.

I think if i was in my 20's i would have just had a fake tan a couple of days before and that was it but sadly with age i need more help lol.

    Gym 3 times a week.

Remember ing to take my make-up off and moisturise no matter how drunk I am.

    Exfoliating twice a week.

    Drinking gallons of water.

Looking after my nails by trimming damage and smoothing it off instead of chewing it.

    Fishy pedicure once a month.

And of course, buying new make-up every week until I find the perfect shade/formula for the big day!

    Hey,

Yeh a lot of the above tbh! I have been eating less, trying to drink more water, and am in the process of trying out different beauty products!

I've been getting my hair cut every 8 weeks for about a year already but for the big day I will have my nails done & have professional hair & make up done!

I am also starting to run again in the mornings 3/4 times a week....first day tomorrow so wish me luck i really really want to keep it up but only lasted 3 months last time, then i joined a gym which lasted approx 6 months!!

My main concern will be my skin & hair...but I also want to tone up my arms a little.

I have been thinking the same about starting a bit of a better beauty routine before the wedding in November. So far I have been moisturising daily, taking my makeup off before going to bed and letting my face "air" as much as poss, moisturisisng my hands more and drinking more water on a daily basis. I should probably step the routine up a bit at somepoint though! x

Me either, but I went with SIL2B on Saturday, we'd offered to pay for a day's papmering for her for a birthday treat, she's 7 months pregnant and chose a deluxe pedicure, I had a manicure and LOVE my nails now!!! They look so neat! And I managed to come home and fix the clutch on my car without them getting chipped or anything ?

I joined SW in January and have lost almost 2 stone (whoop!). I'm also obsessed with skin care at the moment as I'm still really suffering with it and thinking about going to the dr. I also drink gallons of water every day and am being a bit of a princess at work to try and avoid breaking any nails between now and the big day!

In general I haven't introduced that much stuff into my regime, mainly because of a lack of time. I would LOVE to have regular facials and manicures, get my hair styled more regularly and have a spray tan done every now and then. Oh, and I'd love to go to the gym more too.

I was talking through my beauty routine last night, and saying I can't believe how many products I now use!

I'm a Liz Earle addict now too - so I use her Cleanse and polish, toner, and moisturiser twice a day, also using the "Spot on" treatment on 2 new spots I have at the moment and using her intensive clean mask / buffer twice a week.

I've started using my exfoliation gloves in the shower, and have special stuff for my feet too.

Then once I am out of the shower, intentsive moisturiser all over, and in-grown hair remover used, then scar removal cream rubbed in, then foot cream on, and moisture socks on. Then some eight hour cream on my elbows, then lip repair cream, then onto nails. Cuticle cream, Nail whitener (I wear a lot of red nail polish which stains my nails), top coat then finally hand moisturiser too.

And i've not even started looking after my hair with treatments or protectant sprays yet! Argh!!

I am also having my eyebrows and underarms waxed every 4 weeks, my bikini line every 6 weeks and contemplating my legs - OHs Mom just booked to have her top lip done, but not sure I am up for that.

Also need to increase mani/pedi regime - sometimes I can go twice a month, but when I am busy it can be 8 to 12 weeks between!

I hate having my hair done, but going to have to step up the hair cuts now - TBH I have so many hair trials, she'll do it quickly while she is there. Phew - us women do, do a lot!

I have been moisturising my face day and night and ensuring I clean make up off every night.

I regularly get my eyebrows done anyways so no change there. I have to keep nails short for work purposes but will prob be getting false ones for the day!

I am also exercising more and eating less and also drinking plenty of water. want to loose about a stone before the big day! xx

Had a course of clinical peels (bit of a waste of money IMO)

    Nails done every fortnight

Body Shop Body Butter every morning and evening

Helping Hands Cream from Lush - used every day

    Sunbeds twice a week

Teeth whitening (home kit - I heard zoom is v painful)

    Booked in for microdermabrasion

    Epilating

I am just about to order first Liz Earle products as so many people on here seem to really rate them, as does by CBM who is a beautician! Do you order them through the website or do you live near a store?

In reply to the OP - last month I started giving myself a weekly mini mani and pedicure, weekly facials and I cleanse, tone & moisturise twice daily and dry body brush once a day! I also go to the gym 4-6 times a week and am having trims at the hairdressers every eight weeks.

@ Mrs Shark - I've had them through all 3 selling channels.

QVC - good when they are on special value as you can bag a bargain

Liz Earle website - my dad ordered from here and his OH got some good samples which has now turned her into an addict

But mostly for convinience, I go into a large John Lewis as the women on the stands are hugely helpful.

Have not changed anything really. I already cleanse tone and moisturise twice daily and use an exfoliator regularly.

I am trying to take better care of my nails- cutting them before they get so long that they break.

A question for you ladies, anyone know of a good home tooth whitening kit? Don't think I can afford the dentist's prices!

I started my diet and exercise routine last September (I'd got baby weight and 'eating for twenty instead of two' weight to lose ?). So far I've lost 2st 9lbs. I've got another 5lbs to go before I'm back to my pre-this pregnancy weight and then I'm going to allow myself to book some dress shopping appointments ? but I'd like to lose another stone after that to get back to my pre-first baby weight.

I'm planning on doing a lot of the other stuff too but haven't started yet.
