The Veil - who and when?

xlovebirdsx, 11 May, 2012 at 19:16 Posted on Planning 0 5

My OH said hes really looking forward to lifting my veil Smiley smile but Ive been reading that its traditional for the MOH to lift the veil??!

Also, I want my veil off my face as soon as I get down the aisle, but do I have to wait until we've said all our vows etc? x

At my sister's wedding, our dad lifted the veil once they got to the end of the aisle and he 'gave her away' and lifted her veil and sat down, giving her to her hubbie to be... not sure if that's the norm etc but what the registrar said to do and looked right... (def havent heard of MOH though, would have thought it's meant to be the dad or husband)

I've heard that usually either the bride's father lifts the veil at the end of the aisle or the groom lifts the veil at the "you may now kiss the bride" bit, but really you could probably do whatever you wanted (i.e. have your OH lift the veil when you get the end of the aisle), I don't think there are any strict rules.

I am wearing a veil, but don't want it covering my face, so planning on walking down aisle without it on my face. Think its down to personal preference.

I've a veil too but mine is only a single tier and will be fitted under my bun at the back of my head. Having a veil over my face wouldn't really fit in with our wedding. Defo down to personal choice. X

You don't HAVE to do it any way. If you want him to lift it, get him to lift it Smiley smile

There's no right or wrong to weddings anymore ...with a few exceptions.
