I don't think you need a 'theme just for the sake of it.

You dont really need a theme, just a colour scheme will be ok. It's really up to you. Why dont you just decide on a colour and a loose design idea which you can use on your invites etc (or just use a ribon design) for example, lace/summer/flowers etc IYSWIM?

Ours wasnt a choice really. We have chosen a peacock theme, but it was natural because I have always loved them and my OH has a pheonix tattoo on his back, which is the traditional alter ego of the peacock if u like, and as we didnt want a red/orange theme, blue from the peacock got it and all our invites etc use the image of a peacock or a feather

    Hi and welcome.

Since I am Scottish and OH is from Yorkshire, we are having a thistle and white rose theme, but I use the term theme loosely TBH.... there will only be a few things that this applies to. You don't need to have a theme at all.

How are your plans coming along ?

    Regards

You might find actually if you just start with a colour, a theme will evolve. Our dark/navy/royal blue theme has pearl and silver added to it after I bought my wedding jewellery as most is white gold coloured so pearls have now made a sneak into it as well! Things tend to run away, grow and evolve as you go, so dont worry too much

We're not having a theme. I don't think you really need one if it isn't something that comes up naturally or is very 'you' as a couple.

Only have a vague theme - dragonfly. Will try and make some dragonfly accessories and have a dragonfly paper cutter to make table confetti but my induglent buy is probably going to be these for place names

I agree with other hitchers, you don't need a theme at all - some themes are done to the death and look a bit tacky anyways!

We weren't planning to have a theme at all but it seems to be evolving into a 1950's style event - my dress is a shorter 'tea dress' style, our wedding car is a classic american and I've just been introduced to a brilliant local band who play music from the 1950's/60's etc - we aren't going to take it too far but it has an old fashioned feel to it... wedding reception is in a parish hall etc. Saying that we are having modern touches and random other things that we really want - male voice choir in the church for starters! Well, we are in Wales ?

I feel like were doing ok at the moment with regards to the planning. Need to get in touch with people for prices on cakes and flowers but im not really into flowers so I dont want to spend alot of money on that.

Thank you for the advice, think we probably wont bother with e theme, we have a colour theme so things will be dont to match that, think were quite happy with that x

Definitely as the others have said. I think it's more a 'look' that people like which develops into a theme. Examples of popular looks/themes at the moment are citrus themes - crisp yellows, limes, whites, oranges using fruit in table arrangements. Vintage tea cup theme, summer pinks, sage greens, victorian pinks etc, Seaside themes, royal blue, red and white, with a nautical flavour. Jewel themes, rich purples, hot pinks, with embellishments. Watercolour themes using 'washed out' colours pinks, sandy shades, sagey greens and peaches. Sometimes if you set your heart on a theme, things can get over complicated trying to match everything and it can sometimes look overly done if you see what I mean.
