There was always going to be that one guest, wasn't there…..

Suzie88, 29 June, 2014 at 14:50 Posted on Planning 0 7

Table plans. You know how they are hell? Why does there have to be that one guest that you know is just going to kick up because xyz is on their table, and you know will moan because it can't just be their group of friends. It turns out that this one person has not just zyx that can't be with them, but abc, jkl, pqr, and a few more to boot. And it is all down to her, not any of the other people.

Garh. At this rate, she is going to be on her own table, away from her friends, and apparently anyone else, as I have to put them with another group as they are a 6 and we have tables of 10….

Sit them where you want, and don't tell them any more about the table plan. I'd be highly surprised if they'd kick off on the day.

As someone recommended to me on here, if their going to act like a child, give them a kids meal on a table by themself.

Hahahaha! I would love to do that! 'I don't care that you are married, you are behaving like a 3yr old, I will treat you like a three year old…' It would go down so well I think!

I've put her on a table away from these other people, but she now has some random others who i am pretty certain she won't get on with, but I don't care. At her wedding, I was on a table with no-one that I knew, despite knowing people at the wedding….

It's a nightmare, I've just been through it.

My FMIL went crazy as she doesn't want any of her friends and family on a table with any of mine or of our joint friends. That's the spirit of a wedding isn't it?!! We now have tables of 6, 7 and 8 when the total divides much more easily!

Give them whatever they want as to you it won't matter a jot on the day and you'll always have the moral high ground and the right to whinge here! If it matters that much to them so be it just give them what they want and let it go. I took ages to do this, but feel good for it now!

    Oh Lordee.

I'm afraid I have no patience with that sort of guest, it having all been worn away when I ran events and made table plans on a weekly basis.

On this one day, no-one else, apart from my OH, gets a say. No-one. Guests will sit where they are told and that is the end of the matter. And come to think about it, I won't be telling them in advance, they will just find out on the day.

You're not supposed to discuss table plans in advance of the wedding, for this very reason.

Table plans are not community efforts, it's for the B & G to produce. No doubt they will do their very best to put the right people together, but it's just not up for discussion. The first time anyone should ever see it is when it's sitting on the easel, at the wedding itself.
