Things I have learnt since becoming unemployed

legless, 5 December, 2008 at 09:44 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 14

- a lot of people park outside my house to read the paper throughout the day. weird.

- one of my cats absolutely does not move between 7.30 and 7pm.

- 18 species of bird visit my birdfeeders.

- its much easier to deal with a hangover when you're not at work, but also not working does mean that you can go to the pub too early which is a bad thing.

- when the house temperature drops below 13 degrees my hands get too cold to type.

my life is very rock and roll at the moment ?

Haha - yes, very rock n roll ?

When I started my maternity leave in February this year I started noticing things like that too. In fact, me and my next door neighbour have become a right pair of curtain twitchers since we've had kids.

? The joys of being at home!

I have the same thing with random people parking in front of our house.

I also noticed the bunnies are back in our back garden (H is worried about the leeks and parsnips now)

Also, lots of people speed through our village, whatever time of day they are driving through.

That some people are real creatures of habit - I see the same people walking past the house at the same time every day.

I am a housewife while looking for a job and I can also provide some things I have learned

My cats do not move between 7am and 7pm

A man who works across the road eats his lunch sitting on the pavement in the main high street

An old man throws his rubbish in our garden every morning, well, until today when I asked him what he was doing

    The postman always rings twice

I think maybe you should add 'You begin to plan your day around crap daytime tv' to the list. ?

When I was on maternity leave I discovered the garage round the corner use our street as an extra car park. Some days they seem to spend half the day parking and reparking their cars (we have a 2 hour limit for non residents).

My retired neighbour across the street plays computer games - I can see her telly.

There's an awful lot of rubbish on day time telly but I got really into the repeats of ER from the beginning that E4 were showing. Another channel was showing old Cagney and Laceys. I loved that programme and it was rubbish when I watched it again.

Now my daughter's older I don't get to watch daytime telly because she keeps taking the stupid smart card out of the cable box (and who thought that was a good idea for a design?!).

I have been a random parker in the past. I would sit outside people's houses reading a book/playing a game. Usually when I was between appointments, but I wouldn't lurk outside the appointment house as that would seem odd
