Things which are better in the fantasy than in the life

JK, 30 July, 2008 at 13:01 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 42

1. Pervy sex. Rarely, if ever, as good as you imagined

2. Wallpaper stripping. Seems like a good idea. Isn't. It's a bloody Pandora's Box.

That is all.

Plaster is mostly sound, but I'm only down to 1942 in parts, with another 10 years to go...

    Meh.

1 I suspected was probably the case, which saddens me.

Not working. It's not half as much fun as you think it is going to be when you are working.

Moving house. Always seems fabulous and straight forward. Is always horrid nightmare and new house always not quite big enough/nice enough/in as good an area as first thought. And the unpacking takes YEARS.

Holidays. Never seem to come home feeling at all refreshed, and they take so much extra effort I wonder why we bothered at all

Hmmn, are you all sure you're doing number 1 correctly? That's not my experience at all...

Fancying someone for ages, then getting an opportunity to meet/snog/shag him. Never lives up to the fantasy. Sadly. ?

What do you mean 'doing it correctly'? ? How do you do it incorrectly?

If we're being specific, I'd say once it was amazing, five times it was compulsively good, and the rest of the time it went <ahem> slightly wide of the mark. Or wildly wide of the mark.

Its going all right so far! Except I'm not getting as much done as I thought/hoped. Oh, and flooding the garage wasn't the brightest thing to do ?

Decorating in general. Hard work and you are making things so much worse for about 90% of the time.

Yep to NYE and Holidays too - so much planning and preparation and then you come home and spend the next month catching up on the washing/ironing/putting away etc

Having children at the moment. There is no floaty white linen, no sunlight streaming through a nursery window whilst I rock my baby in a beautiful wooden rocking chair and my toddler plays beautifully on the floor with little mess and no whining. Now I am stuck with monster one who has an addiction to butter, bran flakes & marmite (although thankfully not all at the same time) and monster two who can pull to standing but hasn't figured out how to sit back down. Oh and the whinging... head explody time.

    My skiing.

In my mind's eye, I ski down black runs with precision and flair. In reality, I stand nervously at the top for a while, plucking up the courage to turn onto the slope. I then proceed downhill in a blur of poles, skis and expletives and just about manage to remain upright.

Re being rich- I expect it depends on the fantasy. I think some people tend to think that, if only they were rich, their lives would be perfect and all their problems would be solved, and of course that isn't true (see also: being thin). But I expect being rich is jolly nice ?

Yes, I suppose for me the rich fantasy = being able to help my family abroad, pay for grandad's hospital bills, and move them all over here so they're not 8000miles away.

Oh and I could make jewellery all day and not have to work.

I also wonder about the being thin. In my fantasies I am 5'8 and a size 10 and can wear anything!

Am I allowed to say 'marriage'? ?

em, curry. I eat loads of curry and although i love them all, I do feel that I'm trying with each one to capture that elusive and wonderful 'wow' curry experience that I once had and which I've never quite managed to recreate since.

Woah, this was true for me as well. I used to love the bit where she squidged that roll onto those beans..."wake up, daddy! Breakfast's ready!"...without the swiss roll and beans it was just a crappy plastic toy.

    Managing a department.

seriously I can do without the petty squabbles, politics & the constant requirement to both babysit the staff and deal with an overbearing head!

As with all addictions, the high diminishes with time. Take a few months off to allow those endorphin receptors to re-set then go for the phall challenge. That should rekindle your enthusiasm. ?
