Oh Nona, it will be sad to see you go. You are one of the few who have been here since I joined. I can understand your reasons for going though. It's just sad that none of the old crew are going to be about when I get married!! If it's OT chat you are after then definitely come over to DW, it's fantastic for that!

As another old married I know exactly what you are saying! A lot of brides that were on here have totally disappeared and I think it might be my turn to bow out soon too as I hardly ever post now. Well its been great hearing from you on this forum, you certainly did keep us entertained. Hope you find another forum that does the job and who knows I could well be seing you on BT too!

Sad to see you go - you've been v helpful to me but I understand what you are saying. There are v few people on the forum now that were around when I joined.

Perhaps the answer is for hitched to have an "old members" forum....not planning and not OT...just a place where "old" contributors can exchange updates on their lives......

Perhaps even a thread/group that discussed what they may/would have done differently on their wedding day in hindsight.....

Awwwwwwww, don't go! I like reading your posts. I know a lot of people have deserted Hitched over the last few months for various reasons but even if you're married, you can still join in - look at me for example! Been here for nearly 6 years and have seen lots of Brides come and go but there is always something to chat about. Apart from that, if you go I won't be able to vote for you as the wedding I would most like to have gone to!! I LOVE the 40's !

I understand what you are saying, as if you are no longer planning a wedding there isn't as much motivation to post. So moving on is natural. I like Peter's idea

I know what you are saying bt, it is people like you that keep the forum interesting. Hitched has become very quiet & after being her for 5yrs it is not the place it was. It is up to us oldies to build it back up again.

Don't go you have enough knowledge to help the new brides which is what I try to do, it does feel like you are answering the same things over & over again sometimes though!

What do you expect though, it is a "planning" forum. ?

You know what I mean! After 5yrs you see the same questions over & over!

Even in my almost one year, I'm seeing stuff over and over again - was thinking about saving messages and then just posting them when needed! Haaa.

No, seriously - it's a shame that OT (here) died, because that could be where the OMs graduate to, to catch up - unless you want a baby straight away, I suppose there isn't anywhere to go really if you still want to use this forum after your wedding. I for one, will be graduating straight to BT as soon as I can!

I have to say, as a newbie I did feel a little like an outsider when I first joined, felt it took me a while to be "accepted" and was forever being told it was quiet round here now and how this place used to be good ☹️ I stuck it out though and have to say I don't find it quiet really - you are all a lovely bunch!!

It has definitely got busier over here, although OT is still veeeery quiet.

Is that before or after the wedding OLL? Hehe.

GeordieBarbie - It was the same for me when I arrived, there was a strong group of people and it took a while to be let in, as it were, but its a lovely place to be once you here, and the nature of a place like this is that people will come and go and move on after there wedding.

(Prepares to be flamed) I think this is a little unfair, i dont really know where I sit as a hitcher, newbie/oldie/middle, but there are some great newbies on here and we have some great laughs, if people from the last 5 years came back to 'build it back' again then there would be no talk of wedding planning etc. I think we have some lovely newbies and now there are a lot of newbies and the walls are busy I think its lovely here at the moment, for those wedding planning. As mentioned earlier, the with the nature of this site people will come and go but its still a great place to be at the moment.

It is sad to see people go from planning, but it's like leaving school, university, etc. You do your time then move on to bigger and better things.

The only way OT will fill up is if people go there ?

That is a bug-bare of mine - I HATE it when I hear people say that.....yes, there may not be as many members as there used to be, but the OM's and older Hitchers (un-hitched as yet) need to find time to befriend the newbies and keep the community going. Many do and this is fab, but there are a few who to think that new members = poo forum...which is awful!
