Think I've decided on venue for the reception!

Beefzoid, 16 January, 2013 at 19:53 Posted on Planning 0 6

Ok so when i first got engaged nearly 3 years ago now, i went to a venue with my best mate and really liked it! I think after lots of searching etc we are considering it for our reception...

My only worry is that it's over 21 miles away from where we are having the ceremony at our local registry office...

Do you think going to the ceremony and then on a 21 mile journey to the reception is too much?

I have photographed weddings where the distance is much more. Is it a straight road or country lane? 21 miles seems a lot longer if its narrow winding roads..

    Nope Smiley smile

Is there parking at the registry office? If not, you may like to think about providing transport?

Yeah there is parking at ceremony and reception. the shorter route of 21miles is through country lanes the more main carriage way route is 25miles ish, but i dont really want to be travelling down the A12 on my wedding...

Am looking at ceremony at langtons in hornchurch and then to the Reid Rooms

I think is fine, and the guests will travel any lenght if that's what will mean it will make you happy.

I believe one thing to think though, is to arrange transport for those who don't drive=)

Our venue is about 19 miles from the church. It takes about half an hour to get there. I do think its perfectly reasonable, as long as you provide the information with the invite, people have the option whether to accept or not - my mum did say when we started looking at venues that she was worried about the distance, but there really were no venues we liked within the town my parents live in, so we had to look slightly further afield.

I think we'll put the lift sharing thing on our wedding website, and either myself and H2B or our parents will check with older relatives that everyone attending can get there.

End of the day - if people want to be there they will be. I've never heard anyone complain at a wedding about the distance. Smiley smile

In summary: if you like it, go for it!
