*Think* I've found my dress...but how do you know it's the 'one'?

YellowDuckie, 13 August, 2013 at 21:06 Posted on Planning 0 10

So ninth wedding dress shop visited today and more dresses tried on. I know exactly what I want but not really getting the urge to cry or anything, does this happen to everyone? There's a limit as to how many other dresses are out there to try on! I think I'm having a hard time as they don't fit properly - either a bit tight or waaaay too big.

Anyway, I've found a dress I've now tried on twice. It ticks all my boxes, even budget and I like looking at it online a lot.

I have one last shop to try on Saturday but unless they have something better or amazing I think I've found my dress. I am worried about not having that 'moment' but on the other hand I'm getting married in April and all the shops have said I need to order by end of the month. Plus, as I said there's a limit to how many dresses exist, and even if I had it made I'm not sure what I would change from this dress.

Help! I need reassurance!!

A lot of people don't have that crying urge or special feeling, just go with your gut feeling.
Don't purchase unless 100% sure but sounds like it s the one with the amount of shops you've been to Smiley smile I'm sure it'll feel super special on the big day xx

I didn't cry... I felt nothing! But I love my dress... Even though I've had a few wobbles I just look at my pics and know once its altered it will be perfect!

ive tried it on 4times already and get to try it on again on Thursday! Can't wait.... After that I'm just going to not think about it till my dress arrives in store next April/may!

im glad I didn't get emotional because I can be sure my decision was thought through and not impulsive based on emotions.

Thanks everyone. I hadn't thought about it like this PinkButterfly but you're right! Problem is once I've sorted the dress I've gotta find the perfect veil, tiara, shoes, belt etc. never realised it would be so hard to find my outfit for the day

I also didn't get emotional or anything when I tried mine on but I just knew it was the right one. I had a feeling and I love my dress.

    Hello Smiley smile

I didn't cry, I actually couldn't decide between 2 dresses, in person and in the mirror to me they both looked awesome.

The shop allowed me to take photos (not something they usually allow - long story, so won't bore you), and once I got home and uploaded the photos to compare the 2, one of the dresses completely outshone the other. The other dress was in actual fact disgusting in comparison!

So to a point I did get the 'special' feeling but in 2 dresses, though one clearly was distorted - as the photographs showed me.

I also had an inkling as my chosen dress is the only dress my mum cried about when I tried on, that's out of 28 dresses ?

I didn't get emotional or anything, but I did know as soon as I pulled the dress up that I loved it and it was perfect. All other dresses went out of myhead instantlu

Thanks, I feel better knowing it's not just me! To be honest I'm not a real emotional crier so it's not a surprise I haven't cried yet.

I didn't cry, the only feeling I got was that I didn't want to take it off!!! Took that as a good sign. I tried on different styles and once I knew which style suited me it was just a case of the right detail. I only visited one shop. As soon as I was in it I loved it, and still do. Can't wait to wear it on the day ?

I felt exactly the same as you. I've been to so many bridal shops I've actually lost count! There is one that is the cheapest I've tried on and it just happens to be my favourite. I've gone to a few more shops after my second trying on of that dress and I find myself just asking for everything that the dress I like has. I also keep looking at it online, so I'm going to go ahead and buy it when I can get to the shop next!

I can't quite fathom crying over a dress, to be honest. I really liked mine when I first tried it on, couldn't help prancing about a bit in it and didn't want to take it off - so that is good enough for me!
