Thinking of an online "Save The Date"

Caraboo, 28 June, 2012 at 10:54 Posted on Planning 0 8

I know some people think they're tacky, but I'm trying to keep costs down and finding an alternative to the printing and postage costs of STDs seems like one place it would be very easy to trim the budget. I'm making my own invitations (at least, that's the plan at the moment!), but I don't have the time to make the STDs right now, so they wouldn't match the rest of my stationery anyway.

So, I've knocked up a quick electronic STD. I'm a programmer, not a designer, so it may not be the prettiest thing you've ever seen! Let me know what you think - honestly, any constructive criticism is welcome! I think it may be a little slow to start for some people - that's something I'd have to work on before shipping it out to the guest list. I have a very fast internet connection, so it's not an issue for me, haha!

It's one of my BMs singing "At Last" as the background music, so make sure you have your sound turned on. She's going to sing this for our first dance, too.

Anyhow, here it is - what do you think?

Save the date - take one!

PS all the pictures from the mountains are where we live - you also get to see the many changing hairstyles of a snowbunny!

Yeah, Apple is great, but they really need to sort that out! It's basically a montage of pictures of my and HTB set to my BM singing our wedding theme At Last (which is quite apt, because by the time of the wedding, we'll have been together for nearly 8 years haha!)... with a bit of descriptive text telling "our story" and then giving a little bit of info (the date being obviously the most important!) and a link to our wedding website.

Very cute - I love skiing too Smiley smile

I have done an e card save the date too but only sent it to the wedding party so far, not sure if we will send it to everyone yet.

Ah, look at us, song twins!

My HTB and I actually live in a ski resort and we're both ski & snowboard instructors (hence the number of pics of us playing in the snow!). I started to put it together in the winter, which is obviously why it's such a snowy theme. I think maybe, looking at it now it's 30 degrees outside, I might have to change it around a bit and at least have a sunny backdrop - it makes me feel cold just looking at it!

I love yours, too. That version of At Last is so chilled out! How come you're thinking of not sending it to your guests?

I really like this! You both look so happy, and the person singing the song is someone close to you (who is very talented!) and the mountains are from where you live (how lucky are you two!!), what's not to like?

    It really made me smile

I think it's great idea - we took a pic of our kids holding up signs that read save the date plus the date itself - we then emailed this out to everyone with a few details about the day... for us it worked really well Smiley smile

I think it's a brilliant idea and yours is lovely. I'm sure people will love them. What a beautiful place you live in too, I'm rather jealous!
