This is so dodgy - hotels by the hour

KB3, 13 November, 2008 at 14:56 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 21

One of my bosses friends has just been in asking if he knows of any hotels that offer rooms by the hour. He's clearly looking for somewhere to have some fun with one of his many girlfriends, why he can't use his flat I don't know. Well actually I'm assuming he's been caught. Anyway, it got me thinking, do hotels offer rooms by the hour?

We are based in Central London, I'm sure there must be something in the Kings Cross area, or Soho, but isn't it all so very obvious.

The R & J Motel in Kent does rooms by the hour - how do I know this? A group of friends and me stayed there on the recommendation of another friend who was getting married nearby! It was grimmer than a grim thing - everyone else got drunk to cope with it - I was six months pg and had to cope with the situation sober!

Yes, it does sound a it dodgy! Although I am sure I read somewhere about airport hotels offering rooms by the hour for those between flight stopovers.

What a lucky girlfriend (s) he must have. Too cheap to pay for a full night, too lazy and indiscreet to arrange it himself. Nice.

Can't he just get a travelodge room if he's so cheap? Gotta cleaner than a king's cross dive with working girls. (unless that's what he really wants)

? At Skanster, he so is.

I wouldn't be surprised if he'd pulled some bird over lunch and wanted somewhere to go with her now before meeting his girlfriend for dinner. This guy is a playboy and has money to burn which makes me wonder why he can't just book a room for the night.

Not even that if you knock off time getting dressed and undressed, having a shower/wash etc...would'nt even count to 20 mins. That bloke should put more effort in.

Isn't there a Travelodge or premier inn or something like that between Kings Cross and St Pancras ?

The hotel I used to be a chambermaid at (oh the glamour?) used to rent rooms out for the afternoon, and they'd then have to be cleaned again for the 'evening session'.

We used to get all sorts of vomit-worthy old men meeting up with their secretaries for some afternoon 'dictation' ? - they used to arrive about lunchtime and park at the opposite ends of the car park to each other, in some pointless attempt to make it look less obvious.

Some of the lower budget hotels in town centres are well known knocking shops already. the working girls feel £40 for a night is money well spent if its somewhere they can take clients which is warm, dry and relatively safe...

My mum and dad used to own a guest house, and on quite a few occasions my mum was asked if they'd rent a room for a few hours. She always told them know, and that if they wanted the room then they could pay for the whole night!

My friend recently made a last minute business trip to Aberdeen. The hotel he is normally put in was full so his secretary made a reservation at a different one. His first sign that all wasn't right was when the taxi driver said "are you sure ?" when he gave him the name and address.

On checking in he had to pay in full before being allowed to see his room, and hourly rates were clearly displayed.

So yes, in Aberdeen, they do rent them hourly.

This reminds me of a story that some of my dad's old colleagues (both male) told us. They were in Amsterdam and hadn't booked a hotel in advance. They spotted a place called 'Hotel California' and being Eagles fans, thought it would be a cool place to stay. Until the receptionist told them that they only rented by the hour. They then had to do the walk of shame, paranoid that everyone was thinking that they'd just had finished their 'hour' ?

I know of a few hotels here that do by the hour. My mum has had a few people knocking on her door (parents own a guest house) asking if she rents room by the hour.

Saying that she's also had someone offer her £40 to use one of the showers because they had been on the beach and needed to shower before he met his girlfriend.
