Sorry if already posted but the search didn't find anything for me! What is it all about? I've heard snippets that they left a rude answering machine message, but why? And if it was lewd etc how on earth did they do it while on radio?

    This is quite late and after the fact for this debate but to clarify for people who've questioned whether AS knows who RB is and why they were phoning him:

    AS was supposed to be interviewed as part of that show. For some reason he became unavailable at the last moment. That's when they decided to leave the voicemail.

    Phew, I was all confused about what to think on this matter, and then good old Gordon Brown weighed in with his opinion.

    I always wait to hear what the PM thinks on a storm-in-a-teacup media situation before I form my own opinion.

    What next, he'll be texting the Chris Moyles show with opinions? Sitting in the audience on Jeremy Kyle?

    I'm not surprised - they've hung him out to dry. I suspect Radio 2 needs RB more than he needs them. Probably off to do a lucrative gig at a commercial radio station.

    Does anyone remember the tabloid fuss when Kate Moss was photographed doing coke. Her career was "over" as well ?

    I've just listened to the whole show and I must say, it was pretty disgraceful, in a way that the transcript didn't really do justify to. There was an unpleasant bullying tone throughout the programme. TBH, I blame JR more than RB- he was cringe-worthy throughout and reminded me of some kid at school trying to be outrageous to impress the cool kids. Actually I find his chat show a bit like that as well- he makes my skin creep a bit.

    I am sad that RB has resigned. I still would, probably.
