Those Who Are Having/Had A Sweet Table

Sparkly Bride, 5 February, 2012 at 12:30 Posted on Planning 0 14

Roughly how many kg's of sweets are you having? Just used the search forum and cant find anything. Most sellers sell by the kg but no idea how many kg's I will need? There are approx 150 people but dont think everyone will bother with it.

I would work on about 50g per person

So I would say 1kg would do about 20 guests so if you based it on everyone having a handful then that would be a massive 7.5 kg of sweeties

I would go for less than that, people will have had dinner, cake and a few drinks and not all of them are going to want to eat loads of sweeties as well!

We have bought quite a lot but we are having lots of evening guests so we have about 7 1KG tubs, of different sweets, 2 lots of Rainbow dust 60 bags of Rainbow drops bars of BlackJack and Fruit Salad, some liquorice stuff, Dib Dabs and 3 types of lollipops!! so lots really for about 150 total!

I actually don't think this sounds too much - 150 people (or even 100, is a third don't go for it) is A LOT of sweets! I'd try to imagine 100 of your paper bags of sweets, and it will take a lot of sweets to fill all that. I would think 100-150g of sweets per person so maybe 20kg is a bit much, but I'd definitely be thinking of 10-12kg.

I thought about 10kg. Then rainbow straws etc.I am making a sweet tree as well. I will just have to order that and then see if it looks enough when it arrives. If it doesn't then I will order some more. I would rather have too much though than not enough. Thanks Smiley smile

When I do them I work on 100g per person, for 150 guests (and you are right not everyone will have some) I would go for 10 -12 kg.

Sparkly bride, how are you making your sweet tree? i would like to use these instead of a sweet table or even centrepieces

I'm thinking of filling old fashioned sweet jars with different, traditional sweets and using them as centrepieces, then putting little paper bags (might personalise those) on the tables for people to fill up. That sorts out centrepieces and wedding favours in one go! (I am on a tight budget, so two birds with one stone is fab!)
