Those who Colour their hair...

2013_Bride_, 14 July, 2013 at 15:40 Posted on Planning 0 14

Are you having your hair coloured during the time you are 'off' work (if you are) before the wedding?

Or the weekend before?

Wish I'd paid attention before now to see how quickly my roots started showing again!

I fancied a change. Running late, did it 6 days before, cried, washed it at least 10 times in Fairy Liquid to take the colour out, in the end, I liked it!!

I like to give my colour a couple of weeks to settle. My roots don't come in very quickly and could easily get away with having it done a month before.

It does depend on what colour I go. I'm naturally light red. If I've gone blonde then I can go 8-10 weeks between colour without it looking too awful. If I go dark (usually a plum colour) then it's every 4 - 6 weeks. I recently had it all stripped and my "natural" colour reapplied. It looks a little dip-dyed now but I haven't had it coloured since January. I'm avoiding colouring now until nearer my wedding because I don't want to go the wrong way and end up having to strip it again.

The day before!! Have had the same treatment a few times now so I am confident it will be fine.

A week before. I like to give it time to settle in. I just have highlights on my natural colour though. Not all over dye.

I will be splashing out and having a whole head instead of my usual penny pinching half head!

1 week before, as advised by hairdresser, because:

    - I have 50 shades of grey underneath the dye

    - my roots grow relatively quickly

    - the first couple of times I wash my hair after it's been dyed the water is so red it's like something out of Psycho. Imagine that on the dress on a rainy day.

I always find that my hair is best after about a week/week and a half after its dyed - it looks a bit 'too done' for me at the start so planning to have it re-done around then. Though saying that if it's a new or different colour, I'd do a it a bit before. I'm being a bit over the top and plan to go a bit darker for my wedding and have started to try and get the colour right now , glad I did though as I'm really not happy with the colour at the moment (and it fades so quickly my roots are a different colour to the rest after about two days!) Think it might take a while to get to a shade I'm happy with but then I get a bit obsessive about my hair colour!

I've booked mine in for 6 days before, same colours as normal (highlights). My roots don't tend to show very quickly but want it nice and fresh for the wedding.

Half highlights and base colour on the Wednesday before my Sunday wedding. But I don't have any radical colour changes.
