Those who have websites...

Minx Sauce, 16 October, 2008 at 10:35 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 8

Where do you host your site? And if I may be cheeky, how much do you pay?

I'm currently paying £64 every 6 months for a three page site. Nothing interactive on it, just text and a few images.

I'm sure I can get it cheaper elsewhere but would love personal recs please. Also, how do I go about changing over the hosting, but keeipng the same url? Do I have to 'buy' it off the current hosting company? How do I swop it over to the new hosting company?

Sorry for all the dumb questions. Although I'm been doing websites for a while, I've never really dealt with the hosting site of things until now and could really do with some advice please.

Many thanks,

Minx x

For a non-techie - i.e. no html I use Mr Site. They can take across your domain names. The cheapest one you can get is amazon for about £15. They do the hosting etc. but Mrs Magic package does sound good if you dont need a idiot proof front end.

I'd recommend Mr Site as well, totally pain free for now, and £35 for the package and a years hosting, and then i think £35 a year after that

I'd seriously consider customising a blog at www.wordpress.com and using that (you can redirect a URL there with whoever holds the registration). It's free.

We use Mr Site as well, very simple and while it's a bit limited as to style it's probably fine for what you're after.
