Those who participate in trick or treating - when do you stop?

Chedi, 31 October, 2012 at 18:27 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 9

Just wondering as I have my pumpkin out, buts its now 6.25pm and we've not had any trick or treaters ☹️

Last year we had about 4 different groups come, all little kids with parents, which I was expecting again this year. Pumpkins been out since 4pm - and not a sign of them. If there were coming around, I would have brought the pumpkin back inside about 7pm so we wernt disturbed after that, buts that only 35mins away!

I really dont want to have to eat all these sweets on our own ? Maybe next year we wont mind, but we've been really good with eating lately!

I take it no one on here does it ?

To answer my own question though, we had again 4 groups all coming from about 6.40 to 7.30 as I decided to leave my pumpkin out there longer. Pretty impressed with all their costumes and they were all so sweet and polite ?

Only hard core sugar addicts would be out on a night like this. The weather has been horrendous since 3 o clock here.

Feeling a tad bit bloated now. Havent eaten much, but sugar really does bloat me out ☹️ Will have to do extra exercise this week now ?

Before we moved to this village we lived in an estate in a town - when we were there we never got any either. I think villages are much more relaxed and friendly and it is genuinely little kids that do it rather than teenagers so I guess more people are willing to take part.

Weather wise its been really nice today, well apart from a little shower early this morning but thats been it. I wonder if the kids were starting later because its half term so no one needs to rush to bed.

Nobody came to ours either ☹️ We normally have load of kids knocking so I had loads of seets/spooky cupcakes ready for them. I'm thinking its either the wet weather or the fact that the kids on our estate have outgrown it now.

Fortunately my lounge and kitchen are at the back of the house so I turned the lights off at the front and hid at the back. Either no.one goes trick or treating round my way (i've lived here less than a year) or it worked, because I didn't have anyone knocking.

Is putting a pumpkin out a sign you're happy to have trick or treaters knocking on the door?

My mind is blown ? (needs to get out more)

    I really never knew that.

We didn't have any last night, i'm assuming it's because our buzzer is really high and out of the reach of kiddies. We have a communal entrance too, so even if they'd knocked no one would have heard it.

I must say though, the kids around here certainly don't earn their sweets.

When driving back from the dentist, the local highstreet was full of kids in "normal" everyday clothes and just a mask/bit of facepaint. And one girl only had a pair of tights with pumpkins on. Rubbish!

    Is that the norm?

We went all out when we were kids. I remember my dad me sending off with a ball and chain around my ankle (even though I could barely walk) and blacked out teeth!
