those with children - summer activites

Not sure if I should post on BT but this is a question for hitchers with school-aged children...

H and I are piano teachers and are trying to organise some 'summer camp' type things for our students. The idea is that we would have around 6 children, for fun-based activities to help them with their aural, theory and musicianship as well as doing duets and trios. The idea is a) to make piano playing a more sociable activity b) to do a bit of a 'catch-up' of all the aspects of music which you can't always fit into a 30 minute lesson each week and c) to make some money over the summer otherwise we have no income!!

What we're struggling with is how to structure it, would it be better to run it every day for a week (we're thinking 10 til 1pm) or just do 2 full days? Which, as parents would you prefer?

Any comments most welcome - I'm trying to design a flyer today and will start promoting it to students from next week.

Thanks!

Summer camp is the norm here and a couple of hours a day over a few days is best because it gives parents more long term time without their kids but not a whole day, which can be tough on the kids in a new environment. Personally I prefer a couple of hours "off" here and there - it's enough to make me miss her..... Also, it avoids kids getting tired and grumpy while they are with you, which they inevitably will be after a whole day's camp. If you think you have the demand, try running one session in the morning (9.30 to 12.30) and one in the afternoon (2 to 5pm)

Of all the summer camps here (languages, sport, music, art, maths, science etc etc) I don't know any that run a full day.

Thanks! I'm not sure we'll have the demand to run 2 sessions each day, but it's worth thinking about. Do you think it's better to run something for the whole week or would parents still sign up for something which ran only 3 mornings do you think?
