Those with long hair.......

mccaules, 17 April, 2009 at 08:23 Posted on Planning 0 17

.....I'm intrigued to see/hear how you're having your hair for the big day?

Mine is quite long now and still not 100% sure how to have it! Got my trial on 28th May.

I've got longish curly hair which I am having blowdried into long wavy + smooth ringlets (sounds odd but think movie-star glamour) and wearing a headband instead of a tiara - and then a few pieces of my hair will be pinned back so the comb of my veil has something to go in. IYSWIM

I had my hair trial on Monday so will post pics later.

HTH - what were you thinking of?

Ah that sounds lovely. I'm having a band with pearls and crystals on rather than a 'stand up' tiara. My hair is at the bottom of my shoulderblades so quite long, but is quite fine and straight, although holds curls quite well. Like you I am having a veil so will need something for it to cling onto. Was maybe thinking of half up and half down, but as my hair is fine there won't be much down. Want a full soft look. Like the glamourous look too actually and would love to see your pics.

    Any advice re hair trial?

    Hi teehee,

Yeah your hair looks gorgeous and really different. Are you having a veil?

When I go out I curl my hair with my GHDs and it looks really full and glamourous and everyone says how nice it looks, but I kind og wanted something different and more special for the wedding - not just my going out look!

Might ask my hairdresser to do a few styles or just see wat she comes up with. What did you do/say at your trial?

Shoegal, mines exactly the same, except for the needing to grow it part (it's getting close to elbow length now.

Had thought about half up/half down, simply because I'm afraid it will look like it will need brushed very quickly if it's all down. I'll likely be having some sort of headband rather than a tiara.

I like the idea of a headband type thing. I am not having a veil though so think maybe i wont look 'weddingy' enough if i dont have a tiara?? are you having a veil?

Some of the headbands I have seen are really pretty & a bit too much for everyday wear IYKWIM, but I think I'll really just need to try stuff on to get a better idea. I doubt I'll be having a veil, never really wanted one that much, though I suppose that will depend on the dress too. I like tiara's, but I just think it would be a bit OTT on me & if I go for a headband then I might be able to get some really bling earrings (which is def more me!). Have you got your dress yet?

Nope havnt got my dress yet - have tried loads but dont love any.

Im going to look again soon.

Now, i never even thought about how having a tiara would effect my ability to have bling earing - i love love love the diamond chandelier earings like these so maybe you are right - they could look a bit much with a tiara - i need to rethink!!

    Sorry Sarah

didnt mean to take so long to reply!

I did a lot of research and gave my hair dresser loads of pictures about 2 months ago and this gave her time to think about stuff and try stuff out - she was v v v excited about doing my hair!

I'm not having a veil no, just my hair comb.

I discovered that everyones expecting me to have my hair down as thats my usual with the curls, but my dress doesnt lend itself to being down so its going up. I'm sure i'll shock many lol

so start looking for pictures on google and hair sites etc and build a gallery, think about your accessories.

My dress is quite blingtastic so I'm not having any sparkles in my hair, just two ivory roses.

After trying on lots of tiaras, I decided that I just didn't feel comfortable wearing them. I think it just all felt too "princessy" for me.

I'm not having a veil either as I'm getting married outside (weather permitting) and I didn't want to be getting whipped round the face with it if a breeze picks up!
