Thought this was funny..

venart, 7 October, 2012 at 09:50 Posted on Planning 0 12

So here I was looking for a halloween costume for my dog (I know, I know, ridiculous! but I thought it would be funny as she's coming to work with me), and I came across these:

I could go on and on!

So now the discussion: while our dog walker/boarder will be taking care of Wispa during the wedding, she offers a wedding day service with a shampoo/blow dry (which Wispa loveS), light scissor trim, and all around groom session, then she will bring your dog to the place of the wedding if you would like her to be in the photos, and she can run around a bit outside during the drinks reception and get lots of attention, but then our dog walker will take her away and back to her home.

I'm very excited that my puppy will be able to take part in our wedding, be in a couple photos, etc, but I just could not bring myself to dress her up in a bridesmaid dress. I was planing to tie a pretty ribbon around her neck to match, maybe, but that would be it - tops.

Anyone else hoping to have their pets take part in their big day? Would you dress them up? I do admit that if I had a boy pet, I might put a little bow tie on him, but no top hats or tails (other than his own!) 😎

Oh, and might I add, it would look even more ridiculous on Wispa, as by the time of the wedding we expect her to weigh in at over 30 kg, so she's a big girl!

Mine is staying at the venue and will be with us all day. We're not dressing her up though she'll just have a pretty collar.

Not a chance in hell! I love my pups to bits, but nobody wants dog hair all over their fancy pants clothes. Also wouldn't dress them up because I think it looks a bit cuckoo if you do (pretty colour scheme matching bow not included in this!). My boy is also a hyperactive freak (I swear he has doggy ADHD!) and would just cause havoc!

Ahh! Dog hair not a problem for us; Wispa is a non-shedding labradoodle (thank GOD). She can sometimes jump up when she gets really excited, though.. hmm.. Will have to keep a close eye to make sure she doesn't try to jump on the dress! ?

Slightly different but some friends were going to bring my horse over all braided up with matching ribbons for the photos I got her when I was 12 and she was three, sadly she passed away last year but I can totally understand wanting pets there for a few photos if they are part of the family. But dressing them up totally is a bit bonkers I think! (Although nancy and I competed in many a fancy dress competition when I was a teenager!)

Our woofbear will be at the reception as it is being held in the garden. I probably will sneak a ribbon around his neck which he won't mind as he always has a collar on anyway. He does jump up but only people he knows really well (chiffon dress and doggy claws will not a good combination make.) He did cause a major embarrasment at OHs sisters wedding - During the speeches he shrieked his way from one end of the marquee to another with his bottom tucked under him. The guests assumed he had been stung by a wasp (As he has a pathological fear of them). We, however, knew that he was reacting to pain in his bottom from an uncomfortable poo and that he was trying to head to family for comfort. Luckily all poo had been deposited in the bushes before he reached the marquee so the truth was never discovered by guests.

Despite this doggy drama, I do want him there to be in photos and it would be better for him then being in kennels. We will have to make sure people don't given him food as he has a sensitive tummy.

If we'd had puppygirl when we got married I would most definitely have her come for some photos and fuss. Our friends did that with their two and got some lovely pictures

I was bridesmaid for my friend a few years ago and my Mum looked after their westie dog on the day so she brought him down and they had photos with him, my Mum just put a little dickie bow on his collar.

I would love to have our dog included in the day but with him being an overactive black labrador I really don't think black dog hair and dirty paw marks will go well with my white dress!

The registrar did mention yesterday that she wants the day to be our own and dogs etc can all be accomodated.. this was the signal for OH to give me a 'don't even think about it' look!
