It started with Rob, yesterday saying that we should got to Bakewell on Saturday (today) for a picnic...
This morning we stopped off at Sainsbury's to buy a couple of sandwiches for lunch. We headed onto the M1 and it quickly became apparent that we weren't going anywhere fast! There was an accident and we were in a stand-still for and hour and a half! (An hours journey, took 3 hours!) The whole time in the traffic jam I was desperate for the loo. As I'm inept at wee-ing in a squat position, in open area I was hoping we would come across a services......we didn't! As soon as the jam had cleared I made Rob pull over as the wee was too stubborn and I did it in the middle of a farm track!! Result - no wee on flip-flops or jeans!!!
We arrived at Bakewell and headed to the Cotswold shop, where we purchased a hideous picnic blanket for £10. After buying the stunning polymer specimen, we wandered down to the river. We found a lovely secluded area with a beach area and over hanging trees and set our blanket up beneath it. We ate or food and then as I was lying on Rob's chest, he started talking about our relationship. I gazed into the sky, I saw four swallows flying around over head. (I have a swallow as my avatar!!!!!!) He then got up, onto his knee and said, "will you marry me?" I burst into the most bizarre wails and tears and shouted/blurted, "yes!!"
After a few more hours of crying in the sunshine and discussing how stunning the ring was that he'd eventually had made for me, we headed back into Bakewell, to buy our fair share of puddings to take home!
We then ate fish and chips on the wall, in town, by a different stretch of the river, before heading back to the car and driving home. As soon as we got in the car, I texted my Uni mate, Tom, who then immediately phoned me back. He sounded more excited than me and even suggested getting ordained, so he can marry us! My conversation with Tom, lasted most of the journey home, so it passed in a blur. As soon as I got home, I charged my camera batteries and changed my FB status and relationship status!
Just got off the phone to Rob's Mum, but I still haven't told my Mum, as I can't get in touch with her yet. I have also just completed a rather awful "finger photoshoot", in the garden with my joint-of-pork-like fingers!
I know I asked for detail, I didn't expect a whole paragraph on your wee!! ?
It sounds lovely, romantic and cute! Many (overdue!) Congratulations to both of you.
I also love the fact us internet weirdos know before your mum!! (Although, thinking about it the weirdos knew before h2b's family and most of our friends!!)
Omg yay!!!! so excited for you. Congratulations!!!
He did it in such a lovely way and the ring is gorgeous. Lmao bout the pee. I pee infront of my other half but never been brave enough to do it in front of the M1.
Where abouts do you live? i'm not far from bakewell myself. Their puddings are amazing
If you mean details about the proposal - it's on page one. If you mean details about ring, all I know is it was made for me by a local jeweller, following a vintage design, out of platinum.
KJackson - I'm in Leicester. (haven't eaten my pudding yet, it's in the fridge!)
I'm only in Mansfield, like 45mins away and my OH is from Leicester!! I love the shops there and just found some bridal shops there that i want to visit.
When ever i bring back a Bakewell pudding it's gone the same day lol. The quick and the dissapointed is a phrase our family was brought up on spesh when food is concerned so things like that go very quickly
