Thoughts on entertainment for the reception?!

bambi7, 17 January, 2012 at 19:43 Posted on Planning 0 8

I have been thinking about entertainment for the reception and was told to think about the 'PhotoBooth' idea, but I am not sure. Are they old now?

Does anyone have any ideas or will the traditional 'Party/Boogie' suffice??

?

I've seen some people's photobooths on here that look fab, but for me I'd rather have something like that at a big birthday party or other gathering instead, my OH has even been known to utter the phrase 'our wedding is not a comedy show'. But each to their own.

We are having a DJ and some good old fashioned boogie'ing, mingling and banter. Never underestimate people's ability to create their own entertainment"!!!!

We got poker and blackjack tables and a 9 piece swing band Smiley smile We both love James Bond so I think it kind of fits.

    These are my thoughts exactly.

My previous experiences of parties have proven the more 'entertainment' you put in a room the more you divde people and the less people are up dancing and having a good time.

I just wanted to check what everyone else's thoughts were on the matter and whether there are any alternatives to photobooths that are not as costly?

Thank you for the comments so far. ?

We are having a white screen with props in the chill out area just outside the reception room so people can have some fun photo's done. It will be something to do on the way back from the loo's and whilst resting their feet.

It's up to you really - I don't think providing entertainment is ever really wasted money, but it is a luxury that won't necessarily be missed if it is not there, but hopefully appreciated if it is there.

We've booked a photobooth - but that was ages ago, when I had read somewhere that you should break your wedding down into 'sections' and plan each one (along with entertainment/features for each section) separately. Quite honestly, this all seems to be a bit of a dramatic approach now - it is all one day, after all, and it's only a wedding, not the Royal Variety Show. Having said that, I will probably book more entertainment in the form of a string quartet during our drinks reception.
