Thoughts on facials...

Mrs.P.To.Be, 19 February, 2013 at 11:00 Posted on Planning 0 14

So does anyone have any thoughts about how long before the big day you should have a facial?

Some people say the week before, others say don't do anything within the last 6 weeks...I'm confused!

    Hi

I think it depends on your skin and usual routine.

Personally I know my skin needs a few facials but I need a few to keep on top of it and I wouldn't always do it so close to an event as sometime it brings all the spots to the surgaces (again depends on your skin and the type of facial you go for)

Maybe speak to your beautician for a fre face map and guidance

Sorry to hijack your post but i have some Questions regarding facials too.

I've never had a facial before, my skin is a nightmare!!

Very very sensitive and I break out easily. So I have to be very careful even some of the simple range I can't use Smiley sad

What is a facial? What do they do? Should I give it a go and see if it helps? :/ x

    Thanks! xx

My skins pretty good so plan on having one in the morning (staying in hotel night before which has a spa) but know that's not for everyone.

if you have the budget maybe try some before to see how your skin reacts, or some DIY home kits.

I'd say to start them a few weeks before. or if you want just 1 before then have it a week or so before as it can bring your spots out.

A facial is basically a cleansing, tone and moisturise of the skin. The beautician will assess your skin and find the suitable products for your skin type. Normally a masque is applied and also you have exfoliation. They will also work on any spots that you have to emove the puss etc. Then you will normally have a facial massage (I love this).

I used to have them weekly when training to be a beautician and they are lovely and very relaxing. You could always pop into your local salon for a consultation with somebody?

That totally depends on whether you've done the facial with those products before. If you know you won't have a reaction and you've used it before I don't see why you wouldn't do it within the week before. I see the effects of facials on like day 2ish. I wouldn't do a new facial that close though, definitely trial a new one at least a month in advance.

I get married in 11 days and I am having a facial after work today!! I hadn't had a facial with this particular salon before though so I had one a month ago to see how my skin reacted. I booked todays facial using this knowledge to my advantage.

Be very very careful when having a facial, some of the products are a bit fragrance heavy because they want to have like calming essential oils etc. You might be better off with something like a dermologica facial because their products are designed to be gentle and work for skin types, rather than super flowery.

A facial is simply an intense cleanse tone moisturise with some face rubbing Smiley laugh

    Hi

I had my facial on saturday, 2 weeks before the wedding! It was lovely. My skin is usally ok so i just went for it without a trial before. But i think 2 weeks is enough time for any spots to clear up.

I just came out with a couple of really tiny spots the next day but thats it.

Hope you enjoy your facial Nutella!! Are you all sorted and relaxed or getting a bit stressed? I am quite relaxed but think I should be more stressed or nervous! Lol. xxx

It totally depends on the type of facial but I would caution against trying anything new on your skin right before the wedding, just in case you have a reaction to it.

For my skin, I would have a steam based extraction facial about a week before the wedding. Last year I started having Guinot hydradermie facials which look amazing straight away. That's the only one I've ever had where I've seen results right away. The more traditional ones seem to be a gradual process with me and I only really see the benefit if I have them fairly regularly over a period of time (e.g if I get them every 6-8 weeks after about 6 months I'm really happy with my skin).

I've booked in a session for this 9 days before my wedding: https://uk.loccitane.com/skincare-consultation-events-l-occitane-uk,83,1,34450,279311.htm

    I hope that wasn't a mistake ?

I have problem skin SOMETIMES, but generally it's fairly average. I've used their fragrance and bath&body products before, but not their skincare...

The lady I booked with said it's a 20minute sesison which includes cleanse, tone, serum, moisturise, eye cream - so not a full on facial.
