Well just had a family member laugh at the thought of a BBQ as they thought we were kidding! Followed by a look of disapproval when we stated that it wasn't actually a joke! So annoyed! Some people are so damn rude.

I don't think there's anything wrong with a barbecue - I'd be happy to find one at any evening do I went to ?

We're having a hog roast. Nothing wrong with breaking from the norm. And if it's in nice weather a BBQ is much nicer anyway Smiley smile

We have a large balcony terrace overlooking the lake so thought it would be nice to have a BBQ , obviously not good enough for some people, always get those who turn their snobby noses up!

What are you eating at the main meal, and how much of a gap is there between the two?

As long as there's some contrast between the two meals and a bit of time for guests to digest the first one, I don't see any problems with a BBQ.

I think its a brilliant idea!
I have a wedding booked where hog roast will be served! I can't wait Smiley smile ?

I think the most important things that is YOUR wedding. It must be about YOU and your fiancé...more likely about you Smiley winking

If you find it familiar to go for BBQ then do it. Trust me, people will love it. It would be soo much fun, so unique. I would love to photograph a wedding with BBQ Smiley smile

I wish you a very happy planning for it, and don't let others decide about YOUR wedding Smiley smile

    Kindest Regards,

    Chuck

I love the idea of a barbeque for the evening and have been to a couple of weddings where they have done this and it has always gone down well. They both said that there was very little left over too whereas with buffets I always find there is loads left at the end.

Anyway, it's your wedding and if you and H2B was barbeque then go for it. Doesn't really matter what others think.

We're not having a sit down meal as having a pretty informal wedding but are having food int he afternoon to keep everyone going. We're having a hot dog stand and people have been quite surprised at that but we're happy with our choice and that's all that matters.

I would just go ahead and have it. My friend had a BBQ for her wedding breakfast! It was lovely and everyone enjoyed it. If we were having a more outdoorsy wedding then this would defo have been our choice for a wedding breakfast - never mind the evening!

Have what you like and if people are being snobby about your choices then just don't tell them! Luckily out families have been really cool about our plans, particularly as we aren't having a "typical" wedding. If I knew they were going to be funny about what we'd chosen then I just wouldn't tell them and let them see it all work perfectly on the day! As for the BBQ, I hardly think they will abstain from having any on the evening just because they think it's not the done thing.

We're planning on having a Hog Roast for our wedding breakfast and a buffet in the evening. If we were having a more traditional breakfast we would have had a BBQ in the evening so I say go for it.

I would love a BBQ at a wedding, much more than a buffet i reckon. We are having a hog roast as part of our wedding breakfast so will go for hog roast butties in the evening to go with our cheese wedding cake :-)

After a 'normal' night out, most people opt for fast food (or our friends certainly do) to mop up the alcohol. Therefore, a lovely fresh, better quality than takeaway (but still as satisfying) burger will go down a treat! We are similarly having pizza to do the same Smiley smile

I bet whoever made those comments hasn't been to or been involved in a wedding in years. It's YOUR day, do whatever you want. Venues are saying people are now going for bacon baps, ice cream vans, fish and chips etc I don't think there is a traditional evening food anymore. I'm having a rog roast or BBQ for mine
