I didn't really have a budget, I have looked at ones in all price ranges, but the one I have ended up with costs £50 plus p+p. What annoys me is when some tiara designers have a really cheap-looking plain headband that is uncomfy, or it's hard on the ends and digs in and are still charging nearly £200. For prices over £100 I would be looking for a bit of luxury, such as silk wrapped ends to protect your ears or head, and lots of detailing.

To be honest I'd like to spend £20, but would go up to 40 if it was perfect! Thinking of making a veil too! Only want a raw edge plain one if I have one.

This was the same for me. However, I had a go at making my own last night and it came in at a very frugal £17.50, half the price of one I was looking at in debenhams and just as nice so I'm very happy with it.

This is also because of the cost of buying a new veil, I've yet to find any under £50? Originally I wanted a cathedral length and haven't yet found one I like under £100.

I wasn't thinking about budget at first, more looking for something that I loved. Luckily mine was £50, helped that it was from a HIB with 10% hitchers discount!

I'd say definitely shop around because paying a higher price isn't always worth it. I have tiaras for £70 that other websites sell for £260, and no I'm not joking. It's a shame because people believe that the more expensive the better quality because you 'get what you pay for' but that isn't always true. I supplied to a larger bridal store and they bought a tiara for £60 and sold it for £300 and they sold them no problem, I wasn't aware of this mark up otherwise I wouldn't have continued to supply them.

Handcrafted tiaras will sometimes cost a bit more than a machine made one (especially from ebay etc) but that's due to the large amount of time involved in making them but also some of the machine made ones are so expensive it makes my eyes water! The ebay tiaras can sometimes provide such a bargain though and definitely shouldn't be written off.

This is a butterfly tiara I made for a hitcher who got married recently. All my bands are flexible and it's one of the reasons I started the business because as a bride I couldn't stand the solid bands as it felt like my head was being stabbed.

I won a lovely one at a wedding fayre last month. Seen it in my bridal shop, for £110!! I had no idea they were so expensive, I must have seemed pretty ungrateful when I collected it haha. I actually can't wear it as I have a veil and am wearing my mums pearls so it looks too much, don't really know what to do with it now but it's stunning! x

Ideally I'd spend as little as possible as we're pretty stretched for cash BUT like any piece of jewellery I own I have to fall in love with it - if I see something and it shouts at me then thats the one. This hasn't actually happened yet so it looks as if I'll be spending more to get one made - so I guess around 50-100. I am after all only going to wear it once -unless I can use whatever its made from and turn it into necklace/earrings or something.

One thing I would like to see is more designers offering fair trade products - I've only found 1 or maybe 2 companies that do this which is a shame. HIBs - something to think about???

I have been horrified going into bridal shops and finding these one-off-wear pieces run into hundreds of ££s- like someone else said especially the simple looking or really uncomfortable ones. I just can't justify spending that much. Unless you get it from the same place as your dress (etc.) so you can try them together before purchasing (usually the priciest route anyway), there is no guaranteeing that they will actually compliment each other (particularly if you are getting a bespoke piece made), so I may not even wear mine on the day. I factored this into how much I was willing to spend. Similar goes for the rest of my wedding jewellery, but a bit less so as it's more re-usable. I can't think of another occasion where I'd feel comfortable wearing a tiara! I got mine made by someone on Ebay for about £25- I wouldn't have wanted to spend much more, but most of them seem to be. Trying it out with my dress at the dress shop later today, hope it suits!

That is a very pretty crystal butterfly tiara by the way Lynsey!

I budgeted around £50 for mine but was then lucky enough to win mine on a facebook competition. It was specially made for me (as I am so fussy) and should have cost £150!

Yeah I got mine on Ebay for £12 and im using my sisters veil as my something borrowed. My one on ebay has got a few butterflies on it as well. Love it! I personally wouldnt spend loads on a tiara as im only going to wear it once, and unless i hate it when it gets delivered, that will be my cheap tiara ?

    Hi,

I think it is all about seeing the one which you want. A budget is really hard when you are getting married!!! I think what you have set is realistic. Although I know some bridal shops charge lots for tiaras.

I make tiaras and they range from £20 - £45.

    Here is my site:

    http://www.simplysilverbridalprom.com/online-store-tiaras.php

You will know what you want as soon as you see it.
