Tiara vote - please help me! *flashes*

pandorasbox, 11 April, 2011 at 13:27 Posted on Planning 0 24

I am really stuck and know I have AAAAAGES to decide, plus all new designs will be out when I need mine... But it is bugging me that I don't know what I want when I have had pretty clear ideas on everything else.

HIBs have been great offering advice for bespoke designs based around my sunflower theme but I am so confused as to what to go for. Mum says no to sunflower shapes as in her opinion it will be too much and to keep the sunflowers just as flowers. I want to listen to her opinion as she is buying me whichever one I choose from her and my dad. She is not at all pushy or awful, she would not be upset if I chose a sunflower design, but I value her opinion and over the years she has always been proved right! I am waiting for her opinion on these, but also want to see what others think.

Here are 10 most suitable IMO. Can you all tell me which ones you prefer please? Thanks so much.

(Some of the designs are from HIBs websites and images sent to me, so hope you don't mind me flashing, if it is a problem I will remove the post.)

I am planning to do my own hair, so keeping it sleek and simple, it is very fine and not much body so realised a side tiara will most compliment my 'flat' hair. I will prob have my hair a little like these, but not as beehivey:

Dress detail (pearl,diamante and crystal):

Fave tiaras:

2.
3.

5.
6.

7.
8.
9.

10.

Thanks in advance! Someone just decide for me please!

I like number 1 or 3. If your hair is gunna be quite flat and sleek you don't want anything too big really. They're subtle but bring out the sparkle of the dress x

    Hi,

Another to add into it as the Hitcher really suited the design (hope she doesn't mind me copying it onto this post) so thought it would be helpful to see this being worn

I've got pictures of number 7 and 10 being worn on my facebook page but I can't access FB right now. x

I think a plan band or small tiara would suit that hairstyle:

    Or nothing at all:

or just have a comb at the back:

Thanks all... still confused! And now I have combs to consider too!! Wish I could just 'know' and I don't know why such a tiny thing as a tiara is bothering me when the big things haven't worried me really!

Please keep telling me, or flashing your own!

Hi Lynsey, yes I think so it would have to be big enough to stand out. Your number 5 looks like it would be a good size and also catch the light nicely too. I want something that will sparkle, but not so big it looks out of place!

I like the last pic of the added detail too, beautiful, thanks for that.

Thanks for that, it is useful to hear what everyone thinks as the styles as so different. I am trying to decide if sleek and simple wirth the plain wires are best, or go for something a bit more bold, or if to emphasise the pearls.

Thank you all hitchers and HIBs! I am narrowing it down slowly but surely.

    Thanks for your suggestions!

By the time it is the big day I may well have a sweeping fringe, or maybe some tendril bits framing my face rather than it all completely pulled back like in my first photos. That's the reason I am thinking a tiara at the front of my head rather than nothing and a comb. As I usually wear my hair pulled right back off my face, I have now started thinking for the wedding I may well want to do something a little different. I agree that if I pull my hair away from my face then a comb would be best.

I may end up getting a side tiara as well as a comb now!

Ah right, I see. That's a good idea as to be honest I don't think a side tiara really works very well with hairstyles that are pulled back - it needs something to break it up at the front like a parting or some softness at the front.

Most of my side tiaras can be made on combs and vice versa so if you need any help please do shout. I often take photos of my side tiara being worn with different hair styles for me brides!

How about just having a small section with a side parting and then you can wear anything as it can sit at the position where your hair just starts to be pulled back? I don't think I'd go for a tiara and a comb personally as then you might add too much detail to a small area whereas you'd be better to go for one gorgeous accessory to take all the glory if that makes sense.

My double bands work extremely well with any hairstyle, even with your hair pulled back because the band can be positioned so it doesn't totally pull down on the hairstyle and flatten it.

I often lend my sample designs to Hitchers so if you want to borrow one or two to try on just get in touch and I can let you know what samples I have available. There is no obligation to buy either.

Since the hair style seems to be rather "centered" I'd not go for something on the side of the head. I'd either go for a small/puristic tiara towards the front or a more fancy comb on the back. Hope that helps (it'll probably only add to the confusion).

Haha thanks yes2011, it does actually take me back to my starting point as I originally really wanting a front/centre tiara. Then I changed to wanting a simple band with a sunflower shape on, then as others started to point out my dress had a sort of vintage 30s feel to it, I came to think a side tiara would tie in with the vintage style. I tried front tiaras on and tbh they looked a bit daft especially as I am not planning to have any beehive/structure to the hairstyle on the front part.

I *think* now that a side tiara is more complimentary to my fine hair and I could go for that style with flat smooth hair, or tendril bits, or a fringe or even a puffy bit if I can get osme body in it!

Thanks I was just reading her thread before checking my own, and thought how lovely the tiara looked and thinking it looked just like the one I liked of yours! The tendrilly bits excitedbee has look lovely with the design.

I am still awaiting a verdict from mum but will prob email soon about what samples you have at the moment, thanks for all your help (again!)
