Ticket Swaps

cinnamon009, 15 July, 2015 at 13:07 Posted on Off Topic Posts 0 7

Has anyone used any of the ticket swap websites to swap tickets? I have looked at them and where the tickets are print at home tickets it all seems a bit dodgy - how do I know the piece of paper you're given is legit? The sites only advertise the tickets they don't get involved in the swap itself, unlike selling them on stubhub where you upload the tickets and only get paid if they are used successfully.

I had a nightmare this morning trying to buy Foo fighters tickets with the special code I have for pre-sale (unique codes given out to those with Wembley tickets) and somehow have ended up with Saturday tickets even though I am 100% sure as I went through the process it was saying Sunday tickets. I didn't get a confirmation email and it is only when I have logged into the see tickets account again to re-send the email that I saw that it was Saturday tickets. See tickets won't do anything. I can try to get more tickets when they go on general sale but likelihood is I won't get any. So really want to swap tickets with someone who might have got Sunday tickets but really wanted Saturday tickets. Just not sure how I do it without being ripped off.

Any ideas helpful otters?

Hmm. I don't know a lot about ticket swap sites, I must admit. The tickets will have barcodes, so you wouldn't necessarily realise they were fake til you arrived at the venue. But then that also applies to any type of tickets you buy from unauthorised sources - people are pretty good at producing fakes these days. You could ask to see the booking confirmation as well to prove a genuine booking exists, but that doesn't protect you from the seller potentially going in themselves with another printout of the tickets first, thus rendering yours invalid. Do the sites not give any guidelines or procedures for this?

The sites guidelines just offer suggestions such as always meet face to face to buy/sell/swap tickets and either take cash or paypal. But in my case there won't be any cash changing hands. Doesn't say anything else other than 'if anything goes wrong its nothing to do with us'.

Thanks ID - I might just have to buy through viagogo and sell mine separately. I will pay more but at least I should also be able to sell mine at an inflated price too. Then I have the guarantees that the site offers if the tickets turn out to be not genuine.

So annoyed. I was so happy when I finally managed to buy the tickets this morning. Smiley sad

Ooh Holey that might be just the ticket (boom boom)!! The allocation of tickets for pre-sale might have all gone but it is worth a try. Can you pm me it? (can you even do PMs on here?!)
