Ties!

chocoholic_claire, 11 August, 2009 at 16:47 Posted on Planning 0 20

So, I'm on a hunt for some nice ties for the men (OH doesn't want cravats!). Main colour would be a nice bright blue for H2B, and then probably something a little different for the rest of the men.

I've looked at TM Lewin, and M&S and nothings really jumped out at me. MIL2B is making the waist coats, so they can be done to complement the ties even if we get the ties first.

I know we have many great googlers on here, so can anyone please help me in my quest?

Thanks,

Claire

    Thank you!

I've had a look at both sites, still nothing quite like what we're looking for. Not sure if anyone's got the latest You and Your wedding? There's a groom's magazine, and there's a TM Lewin tie on the page about modern tailoring, but I can't find it on their website- v frustrating!

Lol, 22tango, my OH makes me read these things to him when we drive to his mothers (2 and a half hours away!). I end up with a very sore throat by the end of it!

Thank you! OH had a look at it whilst I had to give the cat a bath (I get all the best jobs lol), he said it was a bit darker than in the magazine and what he wanted, so back to the drawing board on that! Thank you again though!

I'm not sure where you are but we've always found Slaters to be incredibly helpful. We're using them for our wedding suits. Might be worth a look

Ok choc first things first - Why on earth would you want to bathe a cat????!!

on the less important matter of the tie - sometimes things look a different colour on the screen, but hey ho at least he knows what he wants!

On the cat front, not sure if you have any, but 2 words: 'cling on'. If you don't have cats, you probably don't want to know lol!

Yes, he certainly knows what he wants.....what worries me is that he now says 'I not sure if the colour even exists or if I've made it up in my mind' !!!

    Oh, I get it ?

have a cat but not needed to do that yet....

I don't think you can make up a colour that doesn't exist....can you?

Lol, it's not very pleasant! It was the kittens first bath too, but she coped rather well.......she didn't whine as much as the older cat does!

I also didn't think it was possible to make a colour up, but I spent two weeks pointing out blue items of clothing in shops and all I got was 'not quite!"!! So, it's a trip to the shops/markets to look at material and then the MIL2B will be making the waistcoats at least (and possibly the ties now I think!!)

Choc I found the Dulux colour strips quite helpful with OH - as we see colours completely differently. as a result our turquoise is actually more like a light blue (!) now. Our trip to homebase to look at the above was well worth the time!

I can make ties (or rather get ties made for you). I have about 250 shades of dupion silk you can pick from (3 books, James Hare and Kandola). And a book of polys too.

If I can help, let me know.
