Time off before the wedding for prep

*Nursey*, 3 March, 2011 at 13:05 Posted on Planning 0 20

My SIL2B told me the other day that her parents (eg PIL2B) are taking the whole week before our wedding off work so they can help with anything. Now that's all very lovely, but I haven't really considered this myself!!!

I was planning on taking maybe from wednesday off (wedding on saturday) but was also thinking of staying at Mum's and going to work from there that week instead of being home with H2B. I want to use 2 weeks holiday for honeymoon so dont really want to use too much leave.

What's everyone else doing?

I am leaving my job to relocate when we get married so i'll leave work the last working day of July - have 2 weeks off until the wedding, 2 weeks honeymoon and then look to start a new job after that.

Had I not been doing this, i'd have taken 2 days and insisited on working from home the other 2 days - we get married on a Friday so obviously I'd need that off too.. My mom is only taking the day before the wedding off, wheras OHs family, who don't live in the area are travelling up on the Wednesday.

My wedding is a Saturday and I'm having the Thurs and Fri off before. As we fly the following Wednesday on our honeymoon and go for two weeks and 2 days I needed 3 weeks off for the wedding. I think the minmum I can get away with is two days but could have done with longer. I cant have any longer off as I only get 20 days holiday! I dont know how I'll survive the rest of the year!

I get married on the Saturday and im finishing up on the Wednesday afternoon, I have waxing and a massage in the afternoon, Thursday I have a spray tan and then Friday I have all my other beauty appointments before taking some stuff to the venue and then staying at my parents. 3 days of trying to relax and doing the essential maintenance!

I get married on a Saturday and want the Thursday and Friday off. That'll be enough for me, if I'm needed for anything, I have time during the day where I can leave work on Wednesdays and only work half day Mondays.

I'm probably going to take the whole week before the wedding off, partly as it's a pretty DIY affair so lots of setting up to do, but mostly because I'll be flustered enough as it is lol, so want to give myself plenty of time to do the last minute stuff.

I don't have to take into account booking time off for the honeymoon as well though, as we're going a few months later so it will actually fall into a different leave year for me!

I'm getting married on Friday and I'm having Thursday off but from Monday-Wednesday I'm only working part-time hours because I will have cake and centrepiece-making to do and lots of hair/beauty appointments to go to. I was going to have the whole week off but OH's family will be staying with us on the Tuesday and Wednesday so I would prefer to be out of the house!

My mum is taking the whole week off so she can be there for me if I need her. She's lovely Smiley smile

What do I get PIL2B to do that week though? Lol

I might work up until wednesday lunchtime and only take 2 days off. Hopefully I wont have much to do though!

We're getting married on a Saturday. I am taking the Thurs & Fri off. My mum doesn't work on Fridays and my PIL2B are both retired so will be around if I need them but I don't think they will be expecting to help until the Friday.

I've not really decided yet. The week leading up to our wedding starts well, with a Bank Holiday Monday! I need to have my final dress fitting on the Wednesday afternoon so may well finish off on Wednesday lunchtime.

I'm lucky that I have such an understanding and delightful boss! ?

My work has been very accomodating and let me keep a week from last years holidays so Im taking the week before the wedding and 3 & a half weeks after off. This means i dont have to take any time off unpaid which means i'll come back from honeymoon with a full bank account...nice!

The week before the wedding I plan to sleep, chill out, gym & get the futtery bits n bobs done...and deal with any crisis's as they arise!

    Hi

I am having two weeks off before the wedding. Where i work, our leave goes from April to April, and as I still have 9 days to take this year. We alos haev the rule that if you don't use your leave you lose it, so my lovely boss has agreed that I could carry the 9 days over on the condition I use them in April.

Woohoo - I finish work on the 8th April and don't go back until the 3rd May?

So I will spend the first week, spend time with my lovely twins and getting the house all clean and tidy, and then the second week, for the wedding prep.

My H2B has taken the whole week off before the wedding, so we can get everything sorted and he can watch the twins, whilst I get my nails ect... done.

I'm getting married abroad, so I don't really count, but for my sister's wedding in a few weeks' time, she's only having the Friday off. She's a teacher, so had to beg for that day off. I'll be taking the Thursday afternoon off to get my spray tan, pedicure etc at home, then travelling down to hers on Thursday night to be with her all day for whatever she needs on teh Friday.

We are getting married on a Saturday and I am taking off the week before as I am making the cake, as well as making sure all the decoration items are sorted PLUS we are getting married a long way from where we live so will be going down there probably the Thursday before the wedding!

We're getting married on the Saturday and I finish work on the Tuesday before - which means I only have 3 full weeks left to work! I've also got two weeks off after the wedding although we're only actually going away for a week.

On the Wednesday I'm planning to tidy the house (quite possibly whilst wearing my wedding shoes and fascinator), Thursday is all my beauty treatments and then on Friday will collect my dress, take all the stuff to the venue and family will start arriving.

To be honest, I think I would be a waste of space if I was at work anyway so better to be off!

The Monday before the wedding is a bank holiday but I plan to have the Thursday and Friday off and maybe the Wednesday depending on how it's all going. I get loads of holiday but I want to use it for going away really!
