Time on evening invites

Augustwedding13, 11 March, 2013 at 14:22 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hello Everyone,

Was just wondering what time everyone has put on their evening invites. We are getting married at 2pm, follwed by the wedding breakfast and then evening party, but just not sure what time to put on evening invites.

I was thinking about telephoning the venue to check with them but feel like I am constantly asking them questions and not due to meet with them again until May!

Thanks for all your advice ( : xx

7pm, figured people usually like to show up a bit late so they aren't first to arrive, so hopefully most will be with us for 7.30pm for our first dance.

We're having a 2pm ceremony, 4.30pm for wedding breakfast, 8pm evening guests to arrive, 8.30pm first dance.

    Hello

Sorry this is bit of how long is a piece of string question and one better directed at the venue.

Factors to consider are how many people you have at the breakfast and how many courses? sit down or buffet? what time you sitting down for wedding breakfast?- These will all effect your timings Venue best to advise on these.

Also consider when you are having speeches and how many speeches.

Unless there are restrictions with the venue, I would assume you could put down any time after your meal is due to finish.

At our venue, the building in which we will have the evening party is open to the public until 6pm, and it will take them 1 hour to set up, so 7pm is the earliest we could invite evening guests. Our ceremony is at 2:30pm, so with yours at 2 I would assume 7 is as good a time as any!

Sorry to go slightly off topic, but Kharv, how did you find that time for evening guests? I only ask because latest ceremony they could offer us was midday so doing evening guests invite for 6.30pm ish but worried people will get bored by 10pm lol. thanks x

It worked perfectly for us and I'd do exactly the same again Smiley smile

I think all the evening guests had arrived by about 6.30 and we had a band from 7pm (ish). They also dj'd inbetween sets. They were brilliant.

Last orders were at 11.30pm and we had to be out by midnight. The dancefloor was packed all night.
