Timescales...what was / is yours?

Katianne, 28 December, 2012 at 21:14 Posted on Planning 0 23

We have been engaged since June 2009 and started looking at wedding venues this summer. We may have found THE venue but are struggling with dates. I'm not very patient...surprising when I think how long we've been engaged haha! We were looking at October 2013 but the venue is booked for the dates we want. So now we are thinking of February 2014, with a break away straight after and then having the honeymoon over Easter. But for impatient me this means waiting over a year to get married! I'm sure it will fly though plus it means more time to save. How long have you had between booking a venue and your wedding date?

I only got engaged on Christmas Day but I'm already planning! I like to be prepared Smiley winking (and maybe I'm a bit excited....!)

Aiming to get married somewhen in 2015, still unsure of which particular day yet though Smiley smile

I had seven months and it flew by. Have they got ANY dates in October or have you got specific dates in mind?

We got engaged in 2008 but then our little men arrived and took our time & money so we decided last oct to start looking and booked venue last December for April 2013.

Booked venue two months after getting engaged and with exactly one year to go until the wedding. Already 4.5 months gone so it goes pretty quick!

We were going to try and tie it in with the school holidays as I work at a college and our niece is a bridesmaid. We want mid week as it makes such a difference in terms in price, so we were looking at October half term, but the whole week is booked. The next holiday is Christmas but we feel too much will be going on then already, so we are now thinking of getting married during february half term, have a short break away and then going on our honeymoon over Easter. We need three weeks for our honeymoon as we are hiring a motor home and doing a mini your of Europe with our dogs Smiley smile

We could get married on another date as college do allow me time off during term time and I think our nieces school would let her have the days off, but now are thinking would October or November be too much of a gap, seeing as we are looking at going on our honeymoon is April 2014?

We started venue hunting Spring 2011 and booked our venue November 2011 for our wedding September 2013.

Getting married in London So the Olympics and Jubilee wiped out most of the year (did not want to be fighting the crowds!) Also my 2 best friends are travelling atm and wanted them at the wedding and thought it would be unfair to make them travel back especially (although their travel plans have since changed so will be travelling back especially but that is their choice not one I have forced on them)

Having that much of a gap would give you something to look forward to after the wedding buzz has gone?

Funky on a side note, I shot a wedding yesterday and couldn't help but think you would have LOVED it

Our venue has just emailed us to say they can offer us the midweek price during any weekend in December, January or February! So now I need to have a rethink lol.

We got engaged in april 2011 but I was pregnant with my son (due nov 2011) so wanted to wait until after he was born. We waited until after Christmas before we started making plans and began looking at venues mid jan. We were hoping to get married at the end of August (also allowing 6 months + for me to shift some flab first!) and we managed to book the venue at the end of January. 8 months was perfect for us - not too long, but not too soon either Smiley smile

We got engaged in January and our wedding is March, so 14 months. I had wanted around January/February time but March worked out better for everyone. Honestly, we soon hit the 12 month mark soooo quick, and now look at the ticker below! Time has flown by. I really wouldnt worry to much about getting married as soon as possible, whether you pick October or February, time is going to fly by!

    Oh my, that is gorgeous.
Would it be wrong for a Photographer to get into the couples bath? ?

Ours has been quite a long engagement! Got engaged on our 3 year anni in May 2009 aged 18 then finally set a date in September this year for April 2014 so about 18 months away. It's been delayed mainly because I was at uni and then bought a house together. Honestly, the months will fly by!!
