Timing to put on invitations

nofavours, 23 April, 2009 at 22:34 Posted on Planning 0 3

Hi

I have the registrar booked for 3pm, so I guess that's when the ceremony starts. Do you think I should put 3pm on the invites, or 2.30 to allow for milling around and getting to seats, and give some extra time for latecomers? What's everyone else doing?

Thanks

Nina

On my information sheet I asked for guests to arrive around 230pm and to be seated by 245pm

Our ceremony is booked at 3 as well, we said:

2.30 - guests seated (we don't want anyone to be late)

    3.00 - ceremony

4.00 - drinks reception and photographs

    5.30 - wedding breakfast

    8.00 - evening reception

    12.00 - carriages

Our venue gave us a pretty good idea of usual timings -its probably worth asking them.

    I put on our invitations

    'ceremony at 2pm'

and I just hope that is enough for people to realise they have to be there before that!!

Every wedding invite I have had has just said wedding ceremony at X - X being the exact time the ceremony is to start. So I guess most people know to get there a bit before etc.

However, I think I am going to go for the ceremony at '1pm, please be seated by 12.50pm' option! Or something like that. I'm going to put together a order of the day etc so peeps have something to read if they are getting bored waiting!
