Timings?

slbarber, 11 June, 2013 at 20:29 Posted on Planning 0 8

Hello,

We are just trying to work out our timings for our wedding... We are having afternoon tea and then a buffet in the evening. What do people think of the following times?

2pm - Humanist Ceremony

2.45pm - Reception Drinks

3-3.45pm - turn around room form humanist ceremony to afternoon reception

4pm - everyone seated

4.15pm - afternoon tea served

5.30pm - speeches

5.45pm - cut the cake

7pm - disco starts

7.30pm - first dance

8pm- buffet served

Any thoughts/suggestions will be greatly appreciated! x x

    Looks pretty good to me!

How many guests are having afternoon tea?

We're trying to work that out at the moment - originally was only going to be 40, but it's looking like it may go up 20 or so!

Looks good. Quite often things don't go quite to plan but don't get too hung up on timings and I'm sure it will run smoothly

Only 15 mins for speeches? Also I think the disco usually starts with the first dance doesn't it? Or have I got that wrong? What are you serving for afternoon tea?

    Yes I think you're right!

Maybe half an hour for speeches?

    .. and then mingling?

.. and yes first dance before disco makes sense!

The afternoon tea will be sandwiches, homemade cakes, scones with cream and jam, tea and sparkling win!

As you've got a fair bit of time between speeches and evening do, I wouldn't worry too much about being really rigid with timings as things invariably run over a bit but you have a good buffer to cope with that.

I was just going to say this. I'd say 20-30 mins is probably more realistic. Otherwise, your timings look fine to me!
