Timings

monkeynutter, 1 May, 2014 at 19:30 Posted on Planning 0 4

Hi guys!

I have posted here on and off since my engagement and now my wedding is only 3 months away...eeeek!

Anyway, just trying to work out timings and wondered what you think (baring in mind, the ceremony and reception are at the same venue)

2pm - Ceremony

2.30- 3.30 - photos (includes a golf buggy ride for bride and groom to lake which will take 20mins...is this enough time in total?)

4pm - guests seated for wedding breakfast

4.30 - first course served

7pm - evening guests to arrive

How does this sound? Im not sure if i need to allow a bit more time for photos? (guests will be served canapes and have access to the bar so wont be too bored)

Also, not sure how long to allow for a 3 course breakfast to be served and eaten? and speeches too....

An extra half hour or so might be good for your photos. and you might want to put your evening guests to 7.30 unless you know there's somewhere they can get a drink just in case your speeches etc over-run a little. You might also want to build a little bit of freshening up time in after your breakfast before the evening starts.

I think you need to speak to your photographer first about this and let them guide you. The amount of time needed partly depends on the number of group shots you require.

At the moment, it looks like there is not enough time. Eg if there's a drinks reception straight after the ceremony (the drinks are there as people come out) then you need a few min to let people chat to you. So a realistic start time for the photography is 2.45pm. If guests are seated at 4pm and the last 20 min is you on the buggy ride then your photographer is left with only 55 minutes to do all the photos. If you only have a few groups that shouldn't be a problem.

But if you need to have bridal portraits before the meal as well (if the photographer isn't booked all evening) then you could run out of time. So it all depends on your own plans really.

    Thankyou

So if I perhaps changed the time for photos and reception drinks to 2.45 - 4.15, it could be better...as most photos will be natural, there is only a few group shots that we want and would probably give us chance to mingle a little.

Then meal and speeches 4.30-6.30 (I know the speeches wont be overly long!)

ugh, this is more stressful than the table plan!

Yes, I think that sounds better. But run it by your photographer anyway. Part of the service we offer is help with timings and queries like yours.
