We are getting married at 2pm so.............what time do you do everything else?

What time should i be thinking about having hair and make up?

Hi, i guess it depends non who is doing hari and make up most professionals want 1-3hours for doing both hair and make up before wedding.(remember they have to do bridesmaids as well but talk to them they will explain better)

after ceremony you have photographs and then travel to (if seperate venue) reception area, welcome drinks(30-45mins) more if having additional photographs there, then on to meal and speeches (2hrs) followed by evenign disco till late . x hope this helps? x

We got married, at 2pm having everything at the same venue.

I had my hair started at 8am my make up once everyone was done can not remember what sort of time. It was only 15 mins to our venue, but we had one car for me and the bridesmaids, was picked up about 1.30ish.

Are wedding breakfast was around 4 - 4.30 and then the evening was 7.30 - 8

My wedding was at 1.30pm (and church was about 10 mins away from the hotel)

Hair and make up started at 9.30am. There was four of us to do though.
We were all ready just after 1pm.

Ceremony was 1.30pm. We were back at the hotel just before 3pm.

Drink reception until 4.30pm. Receiving line 4.30 to 5pm and then the meal and speeches. This was done by about 7.15 and then they turned the room round for the evening reception which kicked of about 8pm or so.

Our ceremony is also at 2pm. If I remember rightly the ceremony is about 30-40 mins, we get taken out for our first husband and wife drinks on our own after that and all the guests have drinks outside, then we have photos with drinks and canapes served for about 1 hour 15 mins until we're called in for the wedding breakfast at 4. Food is served at 4.30 and speeches are at 6.30 I believe. Evening guests can start arriving from 7.30.

As for hair and make up, have no idea but personally I don't want to be getting my hair and make up done at 8am if I'm not going to be leaving my house till 1.20pm. Will have to speak to my hairdresser about that one!

It was surprising where the time went, the make-up lady came at 9.30 and started every one as there was 4 of us and every one had their hair done seperately. The reason mine was booked at that time was my friend who I trained with as a hairdresser did it and she was also a guest so she had to have time to do me and her daughter's (my flower girls) hair and get ready herself.

    Thanks for all your replies

Our wedding and reception is in the same place so if the ceremony is at 2 and only lasts half hour then i am a bit worried that if we dont eat till 4.30 everyone will be hammered and starving!!!?

What do guests do when we are faffing around having our photos done?!

Mine is exactly the same - whole day in 1 place and timings the same. Our venue actually call everyone in to the main room at 4pm, so in reality everyone's only outside for not much more than an hour between the end of the ceremony and the meal.

We are toying with the idea of some canapes though just in case, or you could even think of a singer while the photos are being done?

I've always thought guests will take that time to mingle and chat with a few drinks, wouldn't think they would get bored or too hungry as it's not that long really but maybe I am being too optimistic! ?

Uh-oh im getting married at 10am, how the heck am I gonna get ready in time. I think I'll have to start hair & make up around 4am.

We're have the wedding breakfast at 1pm and an evening reception at 7pm. This means we'll have around a 3 hr gap in the middle so I guess I need to find something to keep everyone entertained

    Hi shoegal,

didn't see you at the fair on sunday, did i miss you?

hair and make up varies timings from consultant to consultant so best to talk to them.

If you have more than 3 wanting hair and MU its probably best to get separate people.

I usually allow 45 mins to an hour for Bm's hair and an hour and 30 mins ( max) for bride . but it all depends on what style etc. Most MUA's I work with are 30-40 mins for Bm's and 45-60 for a bride.

try and get 2 people that work together often as they know how each other work and it flows quite nicely. I usually work out my timings , email it over to the MUA and then we go back and forth till it all fits together.

A typical timetable for a 1.30 civil cermony with you getting ready at venue with say 3 Bm's ( all hair up ) and a mob (blow dry ) and bride (half up curly):

8.30.9.00 Mob (needs blow dry first as heat not good for makeup)

    9.00- 945 B/m 3 hair

    9.45-10.30 B/m 2 hair

    **** B/m 1 hair

    11.15 -12.30 Brides hair

    12.15 Bm's get dressed

12.30 touch ups and final hairspraying etc for those done first

12.45 bride dresses (allow extra time if a lace or button dress.)

    1.00 few pics with tog

    1.20 meeting with registrar

    1.30 get married

this might seem a little early to start but beleive me you need to allow plenty of time as things do happen to throw spanners in the works!....

(little tip here ... guests don't realise a civil ceremoney is a very prompt start and as you are downstairs having your interview you don't really want guests still arriving so make the time of wedding on the invite 15 mins earlier than it is.
