Timings of speeches...

My dad is doing his before the meal because he's terrified and wants it out the way! Also I guess it's kind of a way to welcome everybody and kick things off. The rest will be after the meal, eek still not decided if I'm doing one! Xx

We did ours after the starter, so everyone was settled but the people doing the speeches could get them out of the way and then get on with their main courses without worrying about them. I also wanted the speeches before too much wine had flowed!! Personal choice really.

We did ours before as H didn't want to eat his meal feeling nervous about the speech. I've been to a few weddings with speeches before hand and it works just as well.

Thanks everyone, i think i like the idea of doing the speeches after the starters...means everyone has had a little something to eat, bit more relaxed and met everyone on their tables

I think speeches before the main part of the meal is such a good idea. Gonna steal that I think! My dad hates public speaking so I'll get him to go first so it's out of the way and he can enjoy his meal without it playing on his mind.

We are going to do ours before the meal as h2b, my Dad and best man not very confident at talking in front of big groups of people. We are getting married in 2016 and my dads already worrying.

Quite like the idea of doing it after the starter though so everyone else is more relaxed.
