Timings on the day

PinkLady, 3 July, 2008 at 19:03 Posted on Planning 0 7

I'm getting married at 12:30 and the church is only 5 mins away so will probably leave my house at 12:15.

What time should I be aiming to get into my dress? I'm guessing it might take a while to do up as none of my bridesmaids have laced up a dress before.

It will also depend on whether you want photographs in the garden taken by your photographer.

We normally find that bride wil be in her dress about 30-45 minutes before leaving but sometimes its a matter of minutes, depending on how the day is going. Smiley smile

As for lacing the dress I would probably suggest that a pratice session maybe in order, I have laced up quite a few brides when no one else could or knew how do it but it does get in the way of trying to take photographs!

Thanks for your replies. Very useful

I think a practise session might be in order....any excuse to put my dress on again! The dress shop did give me instructions with pictures so they can't go far wrong.

My shop insist that the person who will be getting you into the dress comes with you to your final fitting so they can give them a lesson! ?

Well your dress shop are spot on! I insist this to my clients. There is nothing more stressful than someone trying to help do up a dress when they haven't got a clue! I've usually left to go to the venue before the bride gets into her dress so I make sure that there is someone there who knows exactly what they are doing.

Total time given for getting dressed is 45 minutes. This allows for underwear, stockings, dress, jewellery, veil/hair accessoris, shoes, final checks etc.

I would've loved for someone to come to my fittings for this reason but they only person that lives near by is MIL2b and she won't be here on the morning.

I think I'll go for the practice run a couple of days before when my bridesmaids arrive. At least then they'll get some idea.

45 mins! That's quicker than getting ready on a normal night out ?

    Thanks for your responses

that's only for getting dressed mind, obviously allow your time for hair and makeup, about 2 hours. Also, you don't have to go through 20 different outfits then go for the first one you tried on! ?
