Tipi wedding

Emilysavin425, 29 September, 2018 at 22:07 Posted on Planning 0 2

Hello everyone

Just wondered if anyone has had a tipi wedding recently and can give me a rough estimate of how much everything cost with the extras? And what companies were used?

Just trying to work out if it's a realistic option for us!

Many thanks

Emily

I've photographed a few tipi weddings. I think they were with Boutipi, Peak Tipi and Papakata. I'm not sure how prices vary but the tents were all pretty much the same.

Tipi weddings tend to be expensive. I think one bride who did as much as she could herself paid £6000 for the tent hire. Her land was free as her sister owned a pub. They put the tents in the pub beer garden and didn't need to hire toilets.

Just did a quick Google. The top search said from £2500.

This link shows floorplans with rough costs. Smallest size is for a max of 56 guests (no dance floor), and price is £2130. It seems to go up quite a bit depending on whether you want a dance floor/stage/catering tent: https://www.buffalotipi.com/floorplans/

Also, doesn't appear to include toilets, so you would need to factor that in. Bear in mind that unless you know someone with a big enough field, you would also need to hire land, and you may also need to hire generators for catering/music, or be prepared for your suppliers to provide this and factor the extra cost into their quotes.

We looked at a venue where we would have needed to supply the marquee or tipi plus everything else, and wrote it off as too expensive. In the end we found a venue which came with it's own marquee and toilets in the price, as well as a beautiful garden.

My friend had a marquee wedding in her village, but as with Paula's friend, she had a friend who let her use their land, and the local village hall allowed her to use their toilets, so that helped keep costs down.

It's do-able, and looks amazing, but I think you would need to have a big budget or be very good at haggling.

    Good luck! X

    Hi

We originally really wanted a tipi wedding but in the end decided against it due to cost. The cheapest we could find was £6,800 but as mentioned previously this didn’t include toilets, power, dance floor and lights and that’s before you even look at catering and bar staff.

The other issue we had was then finding land as often many places wanted £**** on top. For us it just wasn’t affordable but I know many others do it, and it’s certainlt cheaper if you have your own private land to put it on. Hope you find what your looking for ?
