Tips/advice needed on encouraging hair growth.

LittleMissB, 23 August, 2011 at 16:13 Posted on Planning 0 13

Does anyone know of any miracle products or have any tips on encouraging hair to grow, im hoping to have my hair longer for my wedding for a paticular style I have seen dont really want to fork out for for exstensions so hoping to grow it.

I have laid off the straghtners and been conditioning reguarly but my hair just doesnt seem to want to co operate ? And is stuck at just below the shoulders when I was younger I could literally sit n my hair but had it chopped in my 20's now it doesnt want to grow past a certain length, any advise muchly apreciated, thanks in advance.

Regular trims, give your scalp a good massage when you shampoo and conditioning masques/treatments if you can afford it

Oh and make sure you are drinking plenty of water and getting your full range of vits and minerals - consider supplements if you think you might be lacking.

I can't help with your actual question but have you thought about a hair piece? That's what I'm having as I want an up do but my hair is too short. Cheaper than extensions and you can just unclip it at the end of the day! I believe you can get real hair or synthetic and my hairdresser is ordering it for me (I'm getting synthetic - I'll only use it the once!). HTH.

My old hair dresser told me to take codliver oil supplements. It strengthens your nails & will help your hair to grow stronger. I've had the same problem as you. I was made to cut my hair off from bum length to ear length when I was 14 after an accident with a bottle of hair dye. 19 years later my hair is short of shoulder blade level. I usually resort to extensions.

I have my crown shaved so i have it cut every 4 weeks, , so when I go tomorrow i will deffo be asking about extensions to one side, , , ,lol

So yes any fast growing tips would be FAB, , , ,?

Sea kelp - you can buy it in tablet form from Holland and Barrett.

Good healthy and balanced diet. Nuts and oily fish are supposed to be good for making your hair shiny as is apparently washing your hair with warm water and a quick blast of cold just before you get out of the shower (so i've heard, might be wrong)

Scalp massage is supposed to stimulate follicle growth. Shampoo that supposed to prevent breaking and split ends can also help sometimes. Try to avoid too much heat like hair dryer or straighteners as the damage to your hair will ruin the finished product. Also second, third or fourth the regular trim. Not sure how but it seems to encourage regular renewing of hair.

I'm quite lucky in that i'm someone with fast growing hair, but my nails are slow growing and are always horrible so am considering taking a vit supplement over the next year or so to try to help. Am going to ask the Dr what he would recommend.

I'm growing my hair really long for my wedding, my tip is Neal Yard's Beauty Oil, doesn't taste great so keep a glass of sweet juice for after. And Vitabiotics Tricologic hair growth supplements. My hair is shiny and growing really long Smiley smile

My friend getting married next year has been told by her hairdresser to not straighten it more than once a week, not to play with it and just to lave it and not get it cut for the next 12 months

I have found it better NOT having regular trims! I've only been having mine trimmed every other appointment (every other month pretty much) and laid of the straighteners as much as possible, just having my hair curly with mousse in most days and the condition has improved a lot! The ends will have a good tidy up just before the wedding but my hair has grown about 5 inches in maybe 12 months?
