To hoop or not to hoop??

MissZKG, 25 May, 2011 at 10:25 Posted on Planning 0 9

So, I had my first fitting yesterday which was ace - except because they made me order a size 14 and am now a size 10 it was MASSIVE. They have to take it in about 4inches+. I did tell them i would lose weight but they wouldnt let me order the dress in a size 12 (despite me trying on a sample in a 12 which did up but was too tight on the hips).

Anyway... i now have to decide whether to wear a fishtail hoop or not... I liked the look of it without the hoop - more natural but the hoop made it easier to walk as it kept the dress away from my legs. It also made the length at the front almost spot on - needs prob half an inch taking up if i wear the hoop but will need about 2 inches if i dont. Also am worried it will make me hotter around my middle if i wear the hoop but the shop lady said it'd poss keep me cooler as there would be more space around my legs.... argh!! Am rubbish at decisions!

Any OMs or other B2B who are having a fishtail dress, can you let me know what you did/are doing??

It was also £69 for a Jupon 189 - so if anyone has one of these for sale please let me know!! Thanks muchly ladies.

    Morning,

I'm having a kinda princess style dress and will be having a hoop as my worst nightmare is catching my heals on the taffeta underneith the dress and stacking it down the isle ?

But totally agree with you it is easer to walk in a dress with a hoop.

Yep I can imagine me doing that too! But i prefered how the dress looked without the hoop - less poofy and as its fishtailed, i wasnt sure if it needed it. But then i dont want to be constantly kicking the front of my dress out of the way...

The lady who did my fitting said I could decide when i go back in two weeks as it might be easier to tell when the dress has been finally made to fit properly.

    Thanks tho!

Was just wandering if you got a petticoat in the end? If you did was it a Jupon 189 and would you like to sell it on?

    Thank you

My dress is fish tail - tried it on with the hoop and have to agree it helpw with walking, and I think gives it good shape! The shop making my dress mentioned I can hire it for the day which I may as well do - though haven't asked them the price yet!
