To Video or not to Video

BridgetJonesNoLonger, 22 August, 2015 at 15:18 Posted on Planning 0 13

Hi Fellow Brides

I'm umming and arring about videoing the ceremony and vows.

I'm not too bothered about recording the whole day as we have a photographer doing that.

Will I always wished I'd recorded it if I don't?

Suggestions/comments most welcome.

Thanks

I didn't want a videographer at first but if you google biggest wedding regrets apparently it's by far the thing people most wish they had done for their wedding. I think the day will fly by so it will be lovely to have a way to see the vows and speeches I think.

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply to my question.

I have been looking at videographers sites in my area recommended on this site all afternoon. I agree with you, I think it's worth doing as it's a once in a lifetime opportunity to record one of the most special moments of our lives. It's a no brainer and life is too short for regrets.

Thanks again and all the best for your wedding

I'm desperate to have a videographer but it's not in our budget. I'm actually wishing I had spent less on my dress so we could put the money towards it.x

We always said that we were never getting a videographer.. I spoke to a girl in work and she was telling me a bit about it.

It didnt really dawn on me at first, but after she told me things that i wouldnt see (groom, bridal party and guests arriving) i thought it would be nice to be able to watch something that i wasnt able to see in person

Plus to be able to relive things like the ceremony, speeches and also the filmed guestbook that we're getting - it will take you back to such an amazing day :-)

    Hope this helps! xxx

Sorry to hear that Smiley sad

You could ask your friends to video the ceremony on their phones or do you know anyone who has a camera?

Alternatively on this site under videographers they have some companies that get guests to film the day and I think that this makes it more affordable?

There are also some offers to get money off on this site and another lady who answered my original email said that the venue might do it?

I hope you find some way of making it happen and never regret your dress, you love it, you will feel fabulous and you can't put a price on that.

    All the best xxx

Thanks I like it when they interview guests and get them to leave messages.

It all sounds fab and I hope that it's all you hope for it to.

Hi, I'm marrying in Lapland with no guests just two witnesses. I have found a company called appliqué who are professional video editors and you can send them up to one hour of video clips and twenty photos plus what music you want and they edit it all into a video for you for 200.00

thats the only thing that's in my budget as I can't use the companies who send you video cameras for your guests etc as I don't have any guests. The pitfall of eloping!

At my first wedding a friend set up their video camera for us (free of charge) and I'm so glad. It's on of the things my son loves - and it's a memory. I'm so glad I had this for all the little things you miss.

I had no interest in having a video either, but after reading this thread https://www.hitched.co.uk/chat/forums/t/363906.aspx?PageIndex=1 I noticed that the video kept popping up as a common regret, which then got me thinking. I've booked a VOG now whose work is amazing so I'm very excited to have them filming our day.

But if it's just the ceremony and vows you want doing, I would consider asking a friend to record them. Or have someone set up a camera on a tripod.

We're having my partner's cousin video ours. He is doing a film course at Uni, so he actually asked us if he could! This could be a good alternative for people with no budget left for videography. I found the price of it was coming up more expensive than our photographer so decided we'd probably do without when our student relative offered. Could be an idea if you have any media student friends/relatives. Smiley smile

    Hope this helps!

We didn't have a videographer, and I am happy with that decision. We did have a second photographer to capture people arriving at the church and other stuff with the main photographer staying with us.

We weren't planning on recording it but then my dad informed me that my Granddad cant make it due to it being too much for him and he has a few issues so it would be hard to sort him out.

So we decide to record it so that we can watch it back afterwards with him.

We didn't have a video. A mate did film my entrance and the ceremony but none of us have ever watched it. Not even interested. I don't regret it in the slightest. I have some brilliant pictures and memories x
