Toastmaster or no toastmaster ?

barbsie, 24 May, 2010 at 21:34 Posted on Planning 0 12

I have paid £100 deposit for a toastmaster for my big day , with the balance of £275 due just beofre ...I am now wondering , is it really neccesary ? The hotel we are holding the wedding at seem quite "on the ball" as far as weddings go , is it just another expense that we could do without ? Your thoughts would be appreciated !

We're lucky, someone at our venue acts as a master of ceremonies and he's really good at it and thats included in our package, other than that we were going to get a bossy friend to do it lol

My parents ent to wedding that had one and then promptly offered to pay for one for us. As we are having a small wedding with quite a relaxed feel to it we thanked them and tehn turned them down. The manageress is south african very blunt and not many people so no to her so i feel confident that when she says it is time to go and sit people will do just that. Depends what you are happy with. If you have ushers who are confident they can get people moving/ quiet/ standing where they should be when needed then not sure i would bother.

my OH is asking his minister to do master of ceremonies. If he's not happy doing it, my brother will. Sometimes the best man does it himself. A good bit cheaper!!

Usually the front of house manager at the hotel would do it, or wedding co-ordinator..... i think its a waste of money to get a toast master, least one who charges that £375!

Sorry but for that price no. I can think of lots more things i'd rather spend the money on. We are having someone from the hotel do it but also our Best Man who is very excited to be bossing people around!

H2b told me that he has booked one, I dont know what the chap's going to do. We are having an evening reception with a buffet supper and a disco. The actual wedding takes place a few days earlier abroad! Haven't decided yet if I should tell oh to cancel the poor man.

My parents offered to pay for one for us but we decided not to in the in end.

The hotel manager seems as pretty on the ball so i think it would be a waste of money.

They have now put the money towads the photographer. ?

Not been on for a little while - had morning off work to see electrician - so had time to 'pop in'. We are definitely going for a Toastmaster. Saw a brilliant one working - the mother of the bride said afterwards he was definitely worth every penny - she and the bride and groom were just able to pass everything over to him. Although the girls at the venue were very good and looked after them well, the Toastmaster just seemed to make things perfect and added to the day. The girls at the venue loved him being there too as it made their job a lot easier.
