Tog frustrations

Sorry, I know this is really WP but I don't want to burst any bubbles of brides to be, and I really want to rant! My tog told me we would have our pictures 2-3 weeks after the wedding. She also said we'd get all our photos in black and white as well as colour. We had paid for 300 photos. 3 weeks after the wedding, she sent us a link to our online gallery, and told us to choose our 300, and our 60 for our album. (or we could pay £150 extra for all the photos) So when she said you get them all in black and white too, she meant there will be a copy in colour and black and white, and you can choose between them. And when she said 2-3 weeks she meant just to view them. Ok, I can cope with that. H and I sat and chose them, wanting to do it quickly so we could get them through. We let her know that we had chosen them on the 21st October. On the 23rd October she told me that if I did a review I could have all the photos. Fine, quicker for her and I was happy to do that, so did it straight away. She said she would then send the DVD out within the next week. So on Wednesday the 29th, as I hadn't heard any more, I messaged her to ask if she'd sent them, and let her know that I was waiting for them as I have bought presents for family that need to add the photos to by Wednesday 5th. On Thursday she said she'd get them sent on Friday, but I still haven't had them! So frustrating. She said she'd send them signed for too, which means even if they come tomorrow I can't pick them up until Wednesday, so I think it's now too late and I've lost money on all the albums I've bought. I know I got a bit over excited by buying the albums before I had the photos, but I desperately wanted them for Christmas, and as she said 2-3 weeks I thought 5 and a half was plenty of time. Very upset to have lost a load of money, as well as a really good deal, and to have lost the chance to have beautiful photo albums to give at Christmas

What a pain!

Was there anything in the contract to say how long you'd have to wait till you got them? Just thinking that if there was and she didn't follow it then she would be in breach of contract and you might be able to get reimbursement from her.

Sorry but why do you need the photos by the 5th if you are giving them as Christmas presents? Surely you would still have plenty of time to make prints and to post them (even internationally) ?

Because I bought groupon vouchers for albums where you add the photos online and they print them for you, not the old fashioned type where you get the prints and put them in. The vouchers expire on the 5th. As I say, I know it was probably silly, but I was excited, and I know my grandparents in particular really want some pictures of the day.

I hadn't thought of that pugsley, i'll take a look.

Ah got ya! (I call that type a photobook hence my confusion)

In that case I would suggest contacting the company that does the photobooks directly (not groupon) and explain your predicament hopefully they will use their discretion to assist a new bride.

Ah, sorry, yes, photobooks, 4 of them! I emailed groupon and the company earlier, hopefully someone will take pity on me!

Yay! Tog has set up a drop box online with the photos I wanted in it, so I'll be a busy bee tonight! Phew! Note to self, stop buying things before you have the bits to go with it!

Aww, SW, when are your pics due? I now have 100 pics, still almost 900 to go! Haha, loads of photos, although that's because half of them are just the black and white version. Does mean I might have enough to do my report now though!

He said 5/6 weeks - which is this/next Sunday. If we don't have them by next Sunday, there is going to be some serious fireworks!

Albums are done! Had to be done with the limited photos though as CD still hasn't arrived, has clearly gone AWOL. Hoping they look ok as I have a creativity level of zero and the whole process threw me a bit tbh!

Well done! What company did you use and do Groupons come up often?

I'm now 9 weeks after our wedding and still don't have our photos... TOG said 6-8 weeks, last Wednesday (8 weeks after wedding) he uploaded a selection to his blog and said he was finishing off the rest then would be sending a disc with them all on. Have heard nothing since We go on honeymoon for 3 weeks on 28th November and were planning to do photobooks or big framed pictures for parents Christmas presents so not going to have long to get these ordered & delivered. I also haven't even sent thank you cards out yet as want to use a photo!

Argh, beccak, how frustrating! I would let him know that you're going away soon so you really need them. I haven't thanked any of our suppliers as I'm waiting for photos to do that.

Deals come up all the time. Look at groupon, discount vouchers and living social. Some of the websites do deals too, like photobox, truprint etc. Mine were from printerpix. I actually had two emails today:

Canvas prints etc come up all the time too, I bought one the other day on wood as some of our pics were in front of beach huts, thought it'd look good I've seen acrylics too. Hope you find something and you get your pictures in time!

Yippeeeeee! The photo disk came today (on a swanky metal personalised USB stick in matching box)! Totally over the moon with the pictures, there are some amazing candid shots of glances between people (e.g. just after the ceremony husband hugging my sister while looking lovingly at me over her shoulder - I nearly cried when I saw it!) and lovely natural shots.

I've ordered our thank you cards and am now looking at doing some canvases and large prints for frames. We've got over 450 photos to choose from though so it's so difficult picking favourites.

Yay! Glad to hear your photos came, and so glad you love them! Our photographer says she'll re-send ours, but i'm lucky that we've seen them all on her website. It's lovely to see your love for each other captured like that isn't it :-)
