Told not to lose anymore weight...

MrsLtobe, 15 January, 2012 at 13:42 Posted on Planning 0 18

I had my final fitting on Saturday and was supposed to take it away, but they are having to take it in a further 4 inches and so will be ready mid-february... they told me not to lose anymore weight, even though I'm around 7lbs from goal and not as 'toned' as I'd liked. My dress is a corset and they said they wouldn't be able to take it in anymore... help!

What should I do?

I would take them at their word there is only so much a dress can be taken in by before it basically needs to be rebuilt. You may be losing detail every time they take it in or the boning may be moving out of place

Don't risk it! Do as you're told - you've already exceeded your expectations because the dress you picked is now too big. I am sure you look lovely. If you really want to work on something, maybe do arm exercises if they are on show, because that won't affect the way the dress fits.

They do this for a living hun and they know what they are talking about so I would do what they say. Maybe you could talk to a personal trainer about what calorie intake and exercise you need to maintain your shape but just tone up x

    This exactly.

The last thing you want to be doing on your day is not feeling comfortable and constantly having to pull up your dress or something and being conscious of it.

I am so with you on this!

I had my dress fitting yesterday, not getting married till end of June so there will be more fittings.

I've lost a stone (well 16lbs now) since I bought the dress and she said they would have to take it in but not to lose any more weight.

I'm still not happy with where I am 'at' weight wise (but then I don't think I ever will be) and am now just under 9 stone which for me looks fine but I want to tone my arms up.

Can anyone advise on average how many dress sizes a dress can realistically be taken in by? I bought a sample dress that I knew was at the very least 1 and possibly 3 too big. I would also like to tone up a bit before the wedding but have resigned myself to scoffing those xmas choccies in a bid to remain within a take-inable size. ?

This is probably a daft question...But, I am starting a very strict diet regime tomorrow. I should see me lose 3-4stone by May this year. I plan to do a bit of dress shopping after I have lost a majority of the weight (Ideally would like to get 5st off) ..Would I be best hanging on until I've lost 99% of the weight I want to lose? I know that dresses can only be taken in so much and I don't fancy spending my wedding day hitching it up ?

So long as you have 7 months (used to be 6 but I'm noticing ordering times creeping up) between day of order and wedding day you can leave it ( not sure of your wedding date relative to target weight loss). We have girls who order but leave coming for final measurements as late as they can without us heading into rush fee's territory

    Thanks for your advice everyone!

It's taken me a year to lose all the weight (2.5 stone) and I guess I'll just tone up my arms etc now, it is lovely to hear and a great problem to have, but I'll carry on as I am for now Smiley smile

I did it by using: www.weightlossresources.co.uk if anyone wanted to have a look!

    xx
