Too good to be true???

Little.Miss-Scatterbrain, 16 October, 2008 at 17:36 Posted on Planning 0 8

There is a photographer in the town im getting married in who will do photography all day for £375! you then chose the best 30 photo's from what he states unlimited photo's taken on the day

i've seen examples of his work and it looks ok, i'm not looking for anything fancy just a couple of photo's to look back on

what you guys think?

Sounds very cheap...is he just starting out perhaps and thats why he was so cheap?

I'm guessing thats just for turning up, taking pictures and giving you prints? No Album / CD or anything?

    Hello

Maybe with him only giving you 30 prints he can make profit on extra prints sales to yourself, friends and family. If you are likely to want more prints it might be worth checking how much he charges if you haven't already...

    Alison ?

Doesn't sound too bad. You'll likely want to purchase more prints once you've seen them all, or purchase all the images on dvd once you view the proofs.

How will you view all the photos from the day? About how many photos will you get to choose from? What size will the 30 prints be?

I don't really understand how people make a living charging that, unless he does something else in the week. I don't really know what his business model is so it is probably unfair to comment but at that price I would have to assume it will be photos straight out of the camera (no processing) sent to a cheap lab (high street??) with no album.

So long as you are happy that you will get what you pay and you don't expect too much then you will be fine.

apparently he is just a photographer and after looking on his website i found photos from a girl i know's wedding. which were basic but nice.

i would imagine it is a digital camera and he down loads the pictures, then you choose them, not sure about the processing.

the 30 prints package is the 2nd cheapest and does not include an album, not sure about the size of the prints etc.

im not expecting miracles for that price but it looks like an option to keep the budget down.

Can I suggest you change the title of the thread to a request for advice from photographer HIBs.... They know all about checking the insurance the photographer has and such like...!
