I'm in the same boat as your 8 parents between us, my little one, a best man and two bridesmaids - I'm thinking of having a U shaped table or just a table of 3 ha ha

    What about a best man?

Could you have maid of honour and best man, then all your parents plus you two? That makes a top table of 10 which is a reasonable number.

We had the bridesmaids and their partners on their own table.

Top table was us, my parents, his parents, two best men.

Our top table was: Us, MOH, Best Man, my dad and his partner and H'd Dad and his auntie (his mum passed away a few years ago and his auntie means alot to him). My mum sat an another table as her and my dad do not get on and she was happy for him to be sat there.

BM's were on other tables, i dont think they need to be on the top table. Its not traditional anyway.

I think the best people to put on the top table are the people who will do speeches. As we're having a naming ceremony for our daughter there are also people doing things for that, so everyone on the top table has a role at the reception. Our venue can only fit in our numbers if you have a big top table anyway, so we didn't have much choice and have chosen a U shape.

    We've got:

Mums x2 who will be doing speeches

    Best man

Bridesmaid 1 who will do a speech

Our boss who will do a speech as we met at work

Bridesmaid 2 and another girl who will be named as guardians for our daughter

Stepmum who will host the naming ceremony

    And our daughter

    We're having a round table with;

    Bride

    Groom

    FOB

    MOB

    FOG

    MOG

    Best man (OH's brother)

His (apparently will be by then but that's a different story) wife.

My two BMs will sit on a different table but near me IYSWIM

We have a similar thing - 4 parents on my side, 2 on his and best men (yes men, because he doesn't want just one!) / 4 bridesmaids.

So we are having on the top table - us, parents and step parents and the main best man.

Then 2 smaller tables nearest to us - 1 with 3 other best men and 1 with 4 bridesmaids.

My preference is a smaller top table with them across from us because i want to be able to speak to and see everybody and i feel a long top table would stop this. Plus the top table is more even doing it this way - 4 people on my side, 3 on his Smiley smile

We only had the maid of honour and the best man. The other bridesmaid sat with the guests, as did the ushers.
