Top table seating

BeccaO2B, 10 July, 2008 at 19:45 Posted on Planning 0 6

Hi All,

How are you seating everyone at your top table? I have quite a lot of people to accommodate as H2Bs parents both have other halves. Plus, H2B is German and not all of his relatives speak English. Needless to say none of my lot speak German! My currenbt plan at the moment is:

Bride's Grandma CBM MOB FOB Bride Groom MOG MOG partner FG FOG FOG partner BM

but I would like to mix them up a bit! Anyone got any suggestions??

Plus, where does the best man usually sit? Near the Groom or further away?

? becca

I think the order is tradtionally...

Best M , mother of bride , father of groom, bride, groom, mother of groom, father of bride, bridesmaid

    I'm having

Father of groom, mother of groom, best man, groom, me !, bridesmaid, my mum, my dad

so inside out with our friends next to us and parent together.

seems to make more sense as our parent don't know each other and my friend knows my parents and his friend his parent.

    We are having (I think)

BMs, best men (all 3 of them), his sister, my sister, best mens partners, sisters partners

my dad died and my mum has another partner so I didnt want him on the top table (not being funny, but he isnt my dad and I will feel bad enough that my dad isnt there-dont want to be constantly reminded of it if that makes sense)

so, my mum and OHs parent s will be `hosting` their own tables with their rels on it

My H2B is french so language communication risks being a bit tricky so its just me and him with our rspective parents on the top so we can talk (translate) easily, don't know if we'll mix them up yet!

We had all our parents (3 sets in total) hosting their own tables and we sat with all the adult members of our bridal party and their husbands/wives. The parents preferred it as they didn't have to make small talk to each other (especially as mine are divorced and remarried) and we loved it as we were with the people who we spend the most time with. Our table was so much fun, we would have been bored stiff sitting with just the parents.

We're not having any parents as mine are divorced and remarried so with three sets of parents it was all too much. Instead they will be sat on their own hosting tables with their partners. I'm having me, hubby, my two bridesmaids and their partners, my sister in law (2B) and her husband and H2B's niece and nephew (10 in total) on an oval table.
