Top tips for table plans

1 April, 2012 at 09:32 Posted on Planning 0 13

Getting married in September and sooner or later, am going to have to think about table plans!

Has anyone got any top tips on how to make them or even better, where to buy one from! Our colour scheme is ruby red!

Neither of us are very arty or crafty so any help gratefully received!

My top tip is that whatever design you pick, make sure that the bit where you have your guest names is detatchable or done in such a way it can be easily removed & replaced because it's likely that it may require changes right into the last week before the wedding!

Exactly what Blonde Viki said. Our table plan changed the day before and all it involved was printing out the new table list and sticking it over the existing one.

Such a good idea. Our stationers is printing ours and it will need to be finalised weeks before, so no doubt I will regret that decision!

Aw I wouldn't worry about it though. Firstly, neither of the recent weddings I've been to had the table plan totally right, and secondly the only reason I noticed was because both of these weddings were ones where I knew most of the people invited. Generally guests won't know everyone else there so won't know if there's been a last minute adjustment.

Might be worth checking with your stationer as to whether they will keep the table plan template and be willing to do alterations at the last minute and post the altered cards to you? Mine has agreed to do mine in the last week before the wedding Smiley smile

Awww thanks Blonde Viki, I think it's fabulous too but I am very biased!!! Another tip which is kind of related...have a few spare, blank place names, incase you lose any during the set up or there are any last minute additions.

I always advise my clients to wait until the last minute to complete table plans.

For example, a wedding that I did yesterday was still having changes made on Friday morning. I then completed it on Friday evening in readiness to take to the venue on Saturday morning.

I send out table plans on the Monday before the wedding if they need posting or I will deliver them to the client on a Thursday if they are going to a clients address.

    The later the better.

    Nat

Hi if you want to do your own i would advise not sticking everything down until late on incase of any changes! that way you will only have to alter maybe one or two of the tables rather than re-doing the hwole plan!

I offer just the pieces as i sort of DIY version so i would print and decorate them and you would then just have to get a board/mirror/tree etc however you want to display it which gives you the chance to put it together late on, if thats any help so again if there were any changes, i could just do the tables again that have alterations pic below to give you the idea! (i also do the fully finished table plans if you prefer)

    hope that helps xx

Sarahjane - where do you advise getting a board from? I've been looking at apeture photo frames but they either don't have enough photo sections or are the wrong size to fit on the venues easel.....

Hi as i buy board quite a lot and i am a member i get it from here

    http://www.saa.co.uk/shop/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=mount+board&osCsid=9iqmh652e52pteh06etcicgnr4

but they only sell in packs of 5 minimum which is not great if you are just looking to get one board, have you tried hobbycraft? i know they have a huge selection at my local one

They look good but I don't need 5 like you say!

Hobbycraft ones only seem to cater for 6 tables - I have 10 plus top table! Or is there more available in store than online? Might be worth a trip if so.

I know in my local hobby craft they do the large A1 boards in a huge range of colours, which is what i would say would be the right size for you with the number of tables you have. They have a lot of stuff in store i would say much more than online but i guess it depends on how big the store is near you, ours is pretty big! Hope that helps x
